Gains should be around 5-6whp.

I haven't recorder a sound clip, but I'll get one soon along with an ATLP + race pipe clip.

This is 5-6 whp from stock. Or 5-6 with ATLP exhaust and j-pipe?

Do you plan on making high-flow cats coming out of the head? I want to do the entire system at once...J-pipe, cats, and test pipe.

It's probably a little less on stock, as you have a small bottleneck when going into the stock exhaust, but you are getting rid of some of the flow restriction (catalytic substrate).

They are still in the design phase, but it's coming up.

...whats it do?! lol
It makes life wonderful. lol. It deletes the 3rd cat, with a non restrictive race pipe. More flow, less interference.

^^Let's stay focused on the exhaust for the base TL before worrying about primary racing high flow cats.

Yeah, how's the base TL exhaust coming along?

But I'm probably in for this too ...

I'd buy this for $65... but likely not for $150

Mike,

In another thread you said "I've had my 3rd cat deleted, and I didn't feel that the top end gain in exchange for the low-end loss was justified". So what is the difference with this product? Why are you recommending this product now?
Just a little confused. I have the ATLP j-pipe and the greddy exhaust....just wondering if this pipe will do anything positives.

What loss in low end are you talking about? There is none. The TL guys seem to be the most paranoid group of people when it comes to low end torque. Look at the guy who deleted all three cats, aftermarket J-pipe, and catback. He gained torque and it's one of the flattest torque curves I've seen in a while.

Im stating what he said in another thread...just wondering why he said it. Then a few months later is offering a similar product. Think it's a fair question.

That was with a different setup, also without a J-Pipe and a different cat-back.

It depends on how "clever" your inspection shop is. If you look at it, it pretty much looks like there is a cat. If they run the car, according to I hate cars, it still passes. I haven't had a chance to get it inspected yet.

It definately passes without it. This is also why either this product with the heatshield hiding the pipe or a gutted stocker is best because there's no reason to ever have to swap the stocker back on with this setup.

It's also good because in CA, they can take your car for no convertor. I had a heatshield welded on the GN's test pipe just for this reason since it's much more likely to get noticed by the police. It's also the reason there's nothing polished or chrome under the hood but that's a different topic.

Still there. Not touching the stock cats.
History here seems to indicate the the 3rd cat doesn't do much at all. I hate cars reports that his car passes CA smog with a gutted 3rd cat.
CA has some of the most stringent emissions testing standards in the country. If the TL can still pass those standards with the 3rd cat removed, it clearly don;t do much...

That's why I'm considering it.
I certainly still not a fan of the primary cat dete mod.

Mike what happened to the test pipe pre-orders, it looks like the sale never went through on my account?? Are you gonna charge me later, or do I need to re-order ?!?!

i think it is going to depend on what exhaust work you have done, my guess though overall not too much of a gain...but someone please correct me if i am wrong, especially considereing i want one, just need to set my priorities straight on what i want to do to me car...
Mike would you do the 10% thing if i ordered the J-pipe at the same time?

Haven't processed most orders yet, but it will be within this week. I got your order though, no worries.

It certainly does depend on your exhaust setup. It takes away the bottleneck transition when it goes from your j-pipe to your cat-back. I also PM'd you.

LOL exactly :sex:

actually two things, first megan is 2.25 inlet which = bottleneck = less gains

also megan is not a straight through pipe its like a mini resonator which = less gains

LOL....an unfinished test pipe covered by a stock heat shield is pure sex? You should really get out more.

XxAf, main diff is the size of the inlet. Megan is only 2.25 and won't be quite as efficient as the ATLP when running the J pipe.

Need some info please. I damaged my catalytic converter but not sure if it's the 3rd cat your talking about. Can someone tell me if the pic below is the 3rd cat? Is this the one the race pipe eliminates?

I was told i had to replace it since the inside webbing is damaged and may damage my exhaust. Howerver dealership wants to replace all the cats and charge me alot for it. Trying to find another solution. Thanks for your help.

Yes it is. Either the Megan test pipe or the ATLP pipe would solve your problem as would going to the local junkyard.
