any info on CAI or Short Ram Intake.

just wondering which brand to go with, or if it even makes a difference. i've been looking at the k&n since it's interchangable between a cai or sri system. thanks for any advice.

Search....its a very old and beat up topic on here. The executive summary...
Most widely used CAI systems:
CAI: AEM, Injen, Fujita, K&N (in that order)
Short Rams: K&N has the combo unit

Personal recommendation: AEM

But again...LOTS of threads out there on the topic...but that is the main ones you will read about. I have had both the AEM and Injen units and recommend the AEM.

Well...I have used both of em. Actually...have em both right here to the left of me on my library floor. (was comparing them a few days ago in another thread asking about filters, so they happen to be right here) In my experience...I like the overall gain I got from the AEM unit better. They are both very quality units and engineered well. BUT...the AEM unit is about 1/4 inch bigger tubing overall. Put it this way...I can place the Injen unit inside of the AEM unit at the top side (not the filter end...the actual outlet where it goes into the intake coupler) -therefore...you can see right away that one is larger than the other, that being the AEM. Plus...the AEM has the optional IAT relocate "bung hole" (haha...I said bunghole) already incorporated within the tube....so it has more options than the Injen unit. Its just overall....I felt the AEM was a better value as it was cheaper, larger tubing, more options, and better "seat of the pants" feel to it for me. I originally bought the Injen as I thought more money meant better...but after getting it...I changed my mind and tried the other. The AEM is the way to go in my opinion.

Now I am running a custom CAI setup with the supercharger....so I am using neither system....

I might add though....that I am also a strong believer in "matching" the systems.....ie...intake and exhaust. If you are going to be taking more in up top...you better upgrade the exhaust enough to get the most out of it. If you are running on OEM exhaust...I dont know...the Injen may be better, being it is also smaller? I honestly cant tell you there. I upgraded the exhaust all the way down the line...procat setup, comptech, ect. right after I put the intake #1 on....so most of my experience has been with upgraded exhaust that is freerer flowing than OEM units.

edit..actually...I didnt put the procats on until afterwards...so disregard that part...I just upgraded to a comptech exhaust. Procats came later...as they were not even developed yet at the time I was messing with CAI systems.

the reason why i want to get the INJEN is because of the black color. this is hard.

AEM comes in black too doesnt it? If not...go with whatcha like! You DO have to like it after you get it on there...and the last thing you need to do is become a CAI expert like me by buying both kinds and then making your own after all that...lol. I mean...I basically have $400 worth of tubing here on the floor for nothing. I gotta get on that black market soon...lol.
