AEM v2 Install Review and Pics!

LOL you obviously never experienced a Before and After AEM v2 CAI, but untill then please don't speculate. All i said was "Holy Shit!" when i stepped on the throttle for the first time. Not much noise with this AEM v2, or not much i hear, but maybe because i have a Full Catback non res exhaust.

would get a v2 but already have an INjen in there. Need to change the filter though its kinda dirty and I hate oil type filters. Looks nice. Your front pad seems a bit low too.

Dunno I would have to put it on a dyno to tell you the truth. I havent run a v2 on this car before. I just like the design and what it is based on. Technically I can just make my injen into a v2 but I am just lazy.

whats up everyone Im new on here and I installed the v2 on saturday and the install went great took just under 2 hours and Im very happy with the extra power and the mean sound. The stock equipment weighed alot. I guess not that much but probley easy 15 to 20 pounds minus the weight of the new pipe

The AEM v2 sticker was in the wrong spot because it isnt made for our car persa, but i took a picture and emailed aem the pic and told them sticker wasnt in the right spot and they sent me a new one... Here is an update pic of the engine bay with the sticker in the right spot. AHHHH that engine bay looks so nice and clean!

Noise from AEM V2
I just installed my last night or should I say early this morning. I fired her up just a few minutes ago and noticed when I turned my car off I hear a puff type sound from the intake I believe. To make sure I was hearing something, I started the car up and turned her off and the sound happened again. I have not driven the car yet the the intake has not miles on it. I did check all the connections and everything is on tight. Is this normal?

I Have A Meth Lab In
I know nobody has posted to this forum for a bit but, the mess that a whole lot of people have gone through getting all the stock intake parts out is much easier with the bumper off. I installed my V2 via that wheel well, and damn, was I wrong. Today I had to take the bumper off to put in my cleared headlights (from JnC) and had I known that taking the bumper off takes 20 minutes and provides such nice access to the area, I would not have bothered with the wheel-well install.
Anyone doing an install in the future, take the bumper off to do it!!

Nice HUGE pic's.
When installing my V2 I over-torqued the rubber mount and broke it. I made a temporary one that just broke.
Does anybody know where to purchase a new rubber mount?
Sorry for the HI-JACK.
^^^Taking off the front bumper makes the install A BREEZE.

Question~~
I heard that when CAI breath in the cold air from the bottom of the car they say watch out for the water on the ground,,, especially rain day.. Can the CAI cause water damage? because it can breath in with water on the ground????

This is a really good post talking about how great the V2, but where is the dyno posting. Or at least a link to another post with a dyno.
Hard solid numbers that show what this intake can really do.

I asked that same question months ago about dyno sheets. Still none posted yet. Those with Naturally aspirated engines who already have the V1 intake should save their money, because the V2 will not increase air flow into the engine, nor will it make the air flow any cooler than the V1 intake that has been wrapped or insulated. If your naturally aspirated and already have a V1 intake, or injen or any other brand and you still need more air flow into the engine, bore out the throttlebody so that it is larger as that would increase airflow into the engine. Provided the intake runners have been polished and cleaned up and the same with the heads. Don't expect much from this intake(If you already have the V1) other than a change in the way the engine sounds under WOT.

Most likely, it's a placebo effect from increase noise and money spend that leads you to hearing (and hoping for) extra power. To compare it to a J-pipe also seems like a little much...
Sticking on an intake usually doesn't provide large gains unless you have a very heavily restricted stock intake, or you have other previous mods (larger bore TB). Plus, as with a lot of intake/exhaust mods, you typically get a gain at a certain rpm, and a loss at a different rpm.
So... someone please dyno their intake

Hey, I've got an AEM intake in my '04 TL and it whistles too... I was wondering what causes that? I've checked the hose clamps and mount and all good - plus I made sure nothing touches intake anywhere and strapped back all wires and stuff...

Thanks. 3 other TL owners at my office and mine is oldest but only one with CAI. All have ridden in mine and can't believe difference in sound and power... will have photos to share soon!

My AEM CAI has a fitted drawstring type "rain sock" (-ordered separate) that repels water if splashes in there. I took it off now, will put back on in fall-winter when puddles more likely. no problems yet after 3 months.
