AEM v2 install question!
so yesterday i decided to put on the aem v2 intake that was delivered to me. took me roughly 4 hours, due to the stock airbox being a pain to take out x_X but after tons of brute force finally got all of the pieces out, but lets just say im not going back to stock with that part anymore
overall i love the sound of the intake especially when vtec kicks.
anyways. some questions about the install.
1. one of the main things I was wondering, when me and my friends were doing the install, we didn't see a reason to change any hose except one. i think its the vacuum hose we replaced and left the stock coolant hose on. Now is that bad? will it affect anything? i wasn't sure, but the car runs fine i guess and i haven't gotten a CEL after 100 miles of driving.
2. im not sure if its just me or what, but the car seems kinda sluggish now with the intake on. im not sure if its in my mind, but whenever i punch it, it seems like it delays a bit longer now. not sure, maybe ill get use to it. anyone else felt this way when they first put on an intake?
3. also, when i was doing the install, i didn't relocate the ground wire for the mount. i just put the vibramount on top of the grounding wire. is that a bad thing? will it harm anything? it all fit tight and snug, and my car still started, so i'm just wondering.
4. lastly, is it normal not to hear the intake when cruising? like in 3rd/4th gear, between 1-4k, when i'm cruising i've noticed i dont hear the intake at all, and hear more my stage 3 exhaust. never had an intake before, so just wondering if thats normal.
advice needed/appreciated. thanks.

I can't answer all of them, but for 2 & 4.
#2: It may just be the car or you expecting the intake to have more kick. Next time you get on it, try to watch where the car downshifts into the RPMs. The intake on mine only provided a small "kick" around the lower RPMs, so anything above 3,500 didn't get much from the intake but noise . Driving normally & then punching it will cause the car downshift into the mid-high RPMs, an area where the intake isn't going to provide much of any pull.
Of course, as mentioned, it could be the noise. The V2 loves to make noise when you punch it, so it may be playing games.
#4: This is normal, & anything altering the exhaust will def. overshadow the V2's noise. The only noise I hear is the whistle some people get in the low RPMs.

wow it took four hours? Im guessing you got stuck on the part under the battery by the bumper mount?
Ok regarding the hoses. You should have used the big hose for the breather hose that connects the pipe to the valve cover and the smaller hose was for the radiator fluid to the intake manifold. I hope you werent driving with this not installed.

^^^ thanks for the answers.
TheDAnger: like, i didnt touch anything but the bigger hose, in which i replaced the factory hose and used the bigger hose. the stock coolant hose is still in. ill take pictures of it tommorrow and post up if you still dont get an idea of what im talking about.
my main concern is will not using the aftermarket hose setup effect my car?
i'm mainly running stock hose setup with just the aftermarket vacuum hose basically.
and again, i driven about 200 mi already with no CEL. so idk. anyone else know?

well your not gonna get a CEL but you could get coolant all over your engine. I would really like to see a pic. You should have taken out all of the stock hoses and metal tubes and just run the big and small hoses. There are pics of how to install on the aem website or I can take pics if needed man. PM if needed.
1. one of the main things I was wondering, when me and my friends were doing the install, we didn't see a reason to change any hose except one.
The reason was in the instructions .. dunno what it was but feel asured there is one .. they don't print it all up and supply extra hose because they have profit margin to waste
3. also, when i was doing the install, i didn't relocate the ground wire for the mount. i just put the vibramount on top of the grounding wire. is that a bad thing?
See bold in #1 above

Its normal , I don't hear it at highway speeds at normal throttle and I just have mid muffler deleted.

Ok yea its doing the same but thats a lot of tubing for the intake part. Go to a hardware store and get the clamp so you can clean that up. Just take out all of the stock hoses and metal hoses that are in there and then run the big hose where the clamp of hoses were and then run the small hose for the coolant part.
my aem cai has two holes near the tb one which your supposed to put a bolt on and the other which is supposed to have a hose connected leading to something kinda like the pictures above show.
i was thinking...... if the intake is what sucks up air into the engine then this hose is allowing air to escape the intake. kinda like when your drinking a soda with a straw that has a hole in it. you dont get the right suction. the intake is the straw. so what i did is took the hose off and plugged up both holes.
i dont know if its just me but i feel like my car has a quicker reaction time after doing this. responds faster. like my intake is getting more air flow. i even double checked by taking the plug off to see if it felt slower and to me it did. so now i am keeping it plugged is that bad for my cai?
