Dyno charts?
You guys claim 20 WHP from a cold air intake and I say BS without proof. Do you have a back-to-back dyno chart to show this gain or is this a SOTP meter?
I dynoed my supercharged 4.6L V-8 T-Bird (4AT) with a stock factory airbox and a panel filter. The car made 320.5 RWHP/380 RWTQ (SAE) on a dynojet. The next pull was with the entire airbox removed and just a K&N conical 9" cone filter attached to the Mass Air Meter. The results were a peak gain of 4.6 RWHP and ZERO RWTQ. The peak numbers changed to 325.1 RWHP and 380 RWTQ (SAE).
So with the hood up, a huge fan blowing on the front fascia and cool air from the shop, the car made an additional peak 4.6 RWHP. Close the hood on a hot day and what have you gained?
I'm not saying that CAI don't work, but c'mon...20WHP!

Yep, fuck the icebox, they took too long. I just order my AEM yesterday too.
Also, are you guys leaving your plastic engine showds off or are you putting them back on after the work is done?

well, i just installed the intake with the little IAT mod, i gotta say... not to much different from just removing the last part of the resonator tubing. i guess i can feel a little more power, throttle response has improved though.

Dyno to go with CAI
I have a Injen CAI coming. It should be here this week. I ran my car on the Dyno this past week to get a baseline for the car. I had done the resonator mod on it when I ran it as well as a K&N filter in it. Once I have the CAI installed I will re-dyno it to see if there is a difference and how much of a difference. If I can I will post the results for everyone to see. Let me know if anyone is interested in seeing this.

Does anyone read this
I say if you can feel the power difference then it was worth the money. Who cares what everyone else thinks because in the end it’s your money and your car.
I am going to get one maybe next week and I will let you guys what I think. Thanks for the post Lokius

yup, if your product comes on the market later than your competitor, often buyers will go ahead and purchase your competitors product rather than wait for yours. It seems that many of us went ahead with AEM than waiting for COMPTECH's ICEbox.

When I had my Grand Cherokee 5.9 I slapped an intake on it which came with a claim of 25+ WHP. Well I dont have the dyno's anymore but it made nearly that much. Not only that, but it took me from a stock 15.2 1/4 mile to a 14.8. In fact it was done in hotter weather with heatsoak.
So it can be done.

Same set up...same reaction. Great mod to do right off. AND YES...DO THE EXTRA MOD. You wont have to do that wire stripping thing....I also have an 05 Automatic and I just had to cut a strip of tape to let some slack that had already been engineered or left in the line loose so it could reach it....no wire strip necessary at all for me? Whole 2nd mod take about 3 minutes to do and is worth it. Get the exhaust too...you will really be happy happy....it will spin the front tires then!

Cold Racketeer
The two things I'm considering next are wheels (ronjon inspyre 18") and exhaust... but I dread sounding like a ricer. I know some exhausts are both deep and nice sounding, but I do hear an awful lot of bad exhausts out there... I feel like I can't make a descision without hearing some in person. Maybe at the future MD meets. As for the wheels I am starting to think maybe I should batter the stock wheels and tires thru the winter and get shiny new ronjons as soon as it stops snowing/salting/cindering/hailing/icing
Are there any good exhaust sound mods that are both nice sounding and relatively cheap? I feel my car has enough power at this point, just looking for a nice sound mod to compliment my CAI without breaking the bank.
And sorry to hijack the thread but it's really old anyway eh
