AEM CAI Sensor Location Thread Problem

So I bought the AEM CAI from Excelerate during his one day sale. After finally returning to the country RedAggie03 and I set out to install this bad boy. I did the remove of the bumper and all the internals (even used a hacksaw at one point, but that's a different story) while RedAggie03 did the install of the AEM.

We got to the end point where we were moving the sensore from the engine to the intake and putting the plug in the engine . . . so plug is in the engine and we are about to screw the intake sensor into the AEM and what the heck do we see but a shitload of paint/powercoating. Can't screw the sensor nor the plug in.

So we drive around . . . . Lowe's no tap . . . Autozone no tap . . . Sears no tap . . . Home Depot no tap.

Now I'm a bit screwed. The OEM parts are toast and won't be reinstalled, and the AEM has a gapping hole that I plugged with a RCA plug. I sent an email to Josh the Vendor. I will update you on the response. I'm hoping he can mail me a new tube and I can mail him the old tube back.

Any other suggestions?

What i did when i got my S14's CAI exactly the same way as yours is i sanded the very tip of the whole, by where the thread starts just enough to catch is and have the threading break off the remaining paint. I got a little bit hard but i got it as far as it would go. What you can also do is buy paint thinner and with a cotton ball or a q-tip rub off the paint from the threads.

I've done 3 aem installs... on the third one I accidentally friggin bent the sensors nipple and although functional will require a replacement... $25 for the sensor

as for the problem the op has... you should screw in the metal plug provided first... force it in there... and done

i've tried the metal plug. I will probably just take it to a local shop and have them do it!

You could try leaving the sensor in the stock location and just using a rubber vacuum plug/cover on the AEM.

Update:

Called AEM two days ago. They asked for pictures and a copy of the invoice. Sent the pics/invoice the same day via email. I waited two days and then called them this morning, left a voice mail and all. No email/phone call has been returned.

Meanwhile the TL is motionless in the garage.
