from my understanding, you do not have to adjust the ECU or reset it.

yes you should disconnect the battery for an hour.. then run it at idle for 15 minutes.. Do this if you don't want your check engine light to come on.

I'd have to agree. I can't see the TL being able to handle the power increase and this could do major damage to your car. Yeah your car might run fast as all hell initially, but the problems down the road just isn't worth it.

I have a friend who supercharged his A4 3.0 (yeah he should of got the 1.8t) and it was amazing. It sounded like a jet engine, but after maybe a year if that the car just died on him.

Traction though would seriously be an issue though...there's a reason sports cars are RWD.

As for the AEM CAI there's no doubt I'll be getting one...it's just a matter of which color.

I had AEM intake installed in my old honda, I never really unplugged anything, and there were no problems... I really do not see any reason for the "check engine" light to come on, would someone who has extensive knowledge of "Honda/Acura engine" enlighten us about this?

alil late in the thread but I have to say the AEM CAI is a great product. I would say most people get it for visual enhancement and the well noted CAI sound

As far as performance numbers, dont expect to get anything past a 1-4whp gain.

I had my share of bolt ons on my ex-5gen prelude.

They installed an Injen CAI on my Maxima (ironically while it was parked on the dyno). Once I get a B-pipe and SAFCII, I'll be back for the dyno tune.

Main Event. I see you didn't plug in the harness to the other outlet on the intake.. Where the it is capped. Do you know why you didn't do this? I'm having mine done as i type this.. same color.. Looks hot!!! what kind of paint did you use for the Writing on the engine.

Unplugging the battery is part of the install, so you'll be resetting the ECU. Not much room to do the install if you don't take out the battery. You should let the car idle for 5-10 min to let the ECU acclimate to the new intake.

You're suppose to move the IAT sensor to the inlet pipe becuase the air charge is slightly denser and cooler since you're measuring further away from the head/engine. More fuel=more power as long as you're not running overly rich. Unfortunately this does void the CARB certification, but what they don't know, they can't complain about...

cadesigns, is it true that if you add a CAI that you have to be extra cautious of driving through puddles or standing water on the road? I told someone that I had been considering it and i got a "woooooah, you don't want to do that unless you water in your engine" Not that i target puddles but am i substantially increasing my chances of that by adding a CAI?

After reading this thread I purchased the AEM CAI on ebay for 177 + 15 for shipping. I guess I'm easily influenced when it comes to improving my TL.

Mainevet - how do you like the sound? Is it distinct and noticably louder than stock (hoping that it is)? Can you feel and perf difference?

Was the install easy; did you pay, if so, how much $?

Lokius : The red paint was done by my brother, it was an ok job and I didn't care much for it. He offered to do it and it turned out to be ok enough for me. It's not something you can visually see everyday hehe

Dr. Murdock: With the 6MT, you can hear the exhaust on every shift..it's great addition to a car. However, a friend of mine suggested to remove the resonator and install a straight pipe into it... as it turned out, the sound is extremely loud .. people will know when you come up next to them.. I guess I like it, but then over growls the Air Intake sound as I can barely hear it or not at all.

With the modification, the car is slightly faster

my friend has a 350Z and when he installed his intake his service engine light came on and will not go out. Are their any problems with the TL when the intake is installed. I do not want the maintenance minder to always have a message display. Any feedback would be helpful.

No problems here and it's been over 2 weeks for me. Can't imagine why a CEL would be triggered though with an intake install unless your buddy had to move the air flow sensor. Nothing of that sort here.

Wholesale? from where? Did the box actually say AEM on it? I'm still trying to find a legit dealer. Doesn't have to be wholesale (but also should not be full retail either)

anyone knows if AEM will come out wiht the AEM V2 for the TL?

I've had a RSX-S and 03 Accord V6 and i bought AEm intakes for both cars

for the RSX i had the SRI then V1 then the V2 and then Injen CAI, the AEM V1 had the most gains

for the accordV6 i had the AEM V2 CAI and the sound was great, sounded just like a G35 coupe and the pipe was FAT!, big ass intake

so if AEM came out with a V2 it might be sick!!

anyway, no need to reset anything when installing the intake, you dont even have to unplug the battery, no reason too if you install the intake by taking off the bumper which makes it a much easier intake if you know how to remove the bumper ( 5 min job ) , so just install the intake, its a peice a cake and common sense, dont need instructions, AEMs instructions are for newbies so they tell you to do this and that to make sure everything works

GL with everyones install

BTW, HELLOOOO mainevent

I installed a AEM CAI on my 2k Si, an Injen CAI on my 2002 RSX-S, another Injen CAI on my wife's 2003 Element and after I sold each vehicle I sold them for about $100 each, so when I bought this TL I promised my wife I wouldn't do any mods and you guys are making me think I may have to break the promise ....grr

But all kidding aside, the reason behind me doind these mods wasn't so much for the HP increase ( I think we relate greater noise = more HP) but really if you want to see any difference it will be in the gas milage increase, at least in all my vehicles I saw a 2 to 3 mpg increase on an average, and now with gas prices going up....it may be a good excuse to break my promise....

Now this will happen after you stop redlining every shift, and that may take a month or two because if the sound is anything like wheat I was used to....well I need say no more...

Sorry but not to bad mouth a SITE SPONSOR...but has anyone considered one of those Turbonators??...just asking...personally I will keep my opinion to myself...

For a first time it should take about 3 hours. For me, the hardest part was getting the rubber wheel liner off and back on. I strongly suggest keeping track (via rough sketches and markings on the liner) of where all those little plastic rivets go. There seems to be two different sizes and obviously the small ones fit in the large holes but not vice versa.

I also agree that the instructions were excellent especially because of the pictures. However, it take some time to figure out exactly what angle some of the pictures were taken at. One tricky bit was the second bolt on the resonator. It's the one towards the front of the car. You really have to work by feel more than by sight getting that bolt off.

I considered having this done at a shop, but I personally get more satisfaction out of a mod if I do it myself. If you're still not sure, you might hire someone to just be with you and provide guidance along the way.

MAIN EVENTS CAI LOOKS TIGHT! I wanted to hold off on ordering mine until they get the V2 for the 3d Generation TL but. I couldn't resist it... So I ordered it. I will be able to put my opinions down as soon as I get it installed.
