bypass valve does not come in 3.25" which is the diameter of the cai tube... also it will not work, some have reported that the car can suck in the foam and cause harm to the motor.... also the bypass valve disrupts the flow of air into the motor

bypass valve robs engine of flow...just use common sense. On my 03, I had the two piece kit from Injen...so in the spring/summer I would convert to CAI and in the rainy fall/winter to SRI.

granted i became lazy after a couple years and decided to keep it SRI. :P

Exactly.

We never recommend the bypass valve even if it's available. It's not a good product. It does prevent sucking up water but in order to suck up water you would have to drive through 2-3 ft of standing water. You have to submerge the filter and therefore the bumper to suck up water. If that's the case then don't even bother buying a CAI. The bypass valve requires you to cut the tube; therefore, it disrupts air flow. And they fall apart. As stillhere said too they don't come in 3.25" diameters either.

You don't HAVE to, but it makes it much easier. 10 minute job to remove. Do a search; there are instructional videos on here somewhere.
