AC Delete
Hey all,
Will be spending the few months on Casual with the AF and during that time will be commiting the TL to track duty only. I've been searching around and I haven't found anyone that's actually removed the AC system from a TL. I really don't see any reason why it wouldn't be doable (in theory obviously lol). Just wanted to post up a belt diagram I found and get your thoughts on it. Basically I would just shorten the belt up and route it right from the crank pulley to the idler instead of going to the AC compressor.
Hopeful solution
Pretty sure I got all this right but I can edit if necessary.

i assume he would remove the compressor for weight reasons as well otherwise im not sure wat he will save by shortening the belt only, he might as well just keep the ac turned off

... Taking the A/C out of a luxury car? Why not turn it off...
Oh well i would just make sure you look down the side of the engine, it may work in pictures but you need to make sure it wont rub on anything on the side where you are roughting the new belt.

You won't be able to drive the car without power steering. A car with a manual rack is one thing but think about the gear reduction. You have to turn the wheel a million turns lock to lock. Power steering delete on an original powersteering equipped car will be next to impossible to turn without replacing the rack and then you have other problems.
The AC delete looks beyond simple. It gives an even better grip on the crank pulley and doesn't matter on the idler.
You may end up close to the limit or the idler's range with the new geometry. Better make sure the new belt is as short as possible.

God some of you need to find a different forum... OR maybe I do, idk. Sorry but some of you are just clueless. The only reason I posted this is because I thought it was odd that no one had done it yet.
Yes, there is such litte weight in the AC system solarevo, I pulled one out of an STI and shaved damn near 50 lbs; which is in front of the front axle by the way... not the ideal place for unnecessary weight if you ask just about ANYONE.
IHC is right on about the power steering being pretty damn necessary.
RonJon is right on too - The TL isn't worth shit anymore and with the miles mine has and the success I've had with it on the track, why the hell not make it a track car? Some of the most successful race cars in history were started as "luxury" cars because that's where the best engineering was.
I will be tackling this in the coming weeks and I'll do everyone a favor and take some pics and do a write up after its done. I hate having to be such an ass with some of this but it's pretty hard to quite with some of the comments I see on this site.

Secondly, why can't the TL be a track car? Give me a reason why it can't be?
Thirdly, this is a PERFORMANCE & PARTS section of the boards, shedding weight frees up HP. Talk to Inaccurate about luxury in a car. There is nothing wrong with taking out the A/C, let alone half of America doesn't even need A/C (north).

My TL is a dedicated track car. I have talked a little before about what I have done and there is more getting stripped this winter. It is a very good car for this plenty of power besides being a fat pig. Not to mention you can cram a wide ass tire underneath it and not have to do shit. Track away my friend Track Away....... In the past three years 4500 miles has been put on the car.

A/C compressor delete 70 inch belt confirmed
2006 Acura TL. A/C compressor was growling at every speed. It sounded much like a cavitating power steering pump, sound did not go away with A/C on or off. After reading this post we bought this 70 inch Goodyear belt (model- 1060700, 6 rib) and it went on perfectly, bypassing the A/C compressor. Pulleys all line up as if it came factory this way. Noise is 100% gone!
