5AT 2008 performance mods

What are the best performance mods I can do for my 2008? I wanna get a tune and be able to compete with at least a V6 mustang but I’m not hearing to much to anything about the 5AT performance parts🤔

what is best for you and your goals is pretty subjective. but most of the ones worth doing have been covered in the performance sub-forum

that's too vague/broad of a performance benchmark. 1994... 2000... 2008... 2019 mustang? stock, auto, convertible? compete in what, drag racing, HDPE, time attack, hard parking...?

specifically for the transmission? not really. An auxiliary cooler and supplemental in-line filter may help it to tolerate the added abuse. but the shift logic is already pretty "sporty" and ratios are really not bad. Also manual mode is there if you need it. A limited lip diff would be helpful, but they are only available for the manual trans.

Because the 5AT's are already fragile enough as it is at stock power levels, let alone when you start adding more power.
Well.... that's assuming any additional HP that you add to the engine doesn't get robbed by the AT.

Your best mods are preventative maintenance
When's the last time you did a tranny flush? Ball joints? Compliance bushings? Timing belt/water pump/tensioner? What's the condition of your tires?

Not what you want to hear, but I'm assuming you just got the car since this is your first post:

If you cannot confirm they've been recently done, replace your ball joints with Sankei 555 or OEM joints

If you live in a place where salt is used on the roads in the winter, and you cannot confirm they've been recently done, replace your axles with APWI or GSP from rockauto.

Disconnect your HFL if it hasn't been done already. Easy to do with youtube videos.

Do at least one drain and fill with 3qts of Honda DW1 ATF. Note the condition of the existing fluid to determine if you should do 2 more drain and fills.

These are the things that should be addressed first, because these are the things that will leave you stranded/on a tow truck.

This is the truth right here. You can mod these to an extent, but it will cost you dearly compared to other platforms. Enjoy this platform for what it is. Looks good, drives good, decent performance, and generally easy on the wallet when taken care of. There are a few that have really gone all out, but the trade-offs were either your wallet is extremely empty, the car was extremely unreliable, the car was extremely uncomfortable, or a combo of all of those. All really what you want to do with your car and your money.

Grab my Pro-Cats I just posted in the marketplace.
14HP/TQ for $300. Best bang for the buck of any mod. No drone or sulfur smell like cat deletes and no check engine lights with OEM O2 sensors. Passes emissions sniffer too.

There's a box you can check right below the message that says to send it anyway...try that, plus I added you as a friend...
