for under a grand to beat a mazdaspeed that might have some mods? wet or dry nitrous kit, a easy 100shot will yield you 70whp with the correct bottle pressure.

Not without forced induction or full bolt ons/Flashpro and 600 lbs of weight reduction. The automatic cripples the 3G; especially once it hits 4th gear. Being an 08', you have the advantage over the 04-07' automatics, in that you can run Flashpro, but it's still only good for a tenth or so.

Speed3's can get pretty nasty in the 80 mph + range with just I/E/flash.

No way you will run a 14 seconds for $1,000.

I had precat deletes, jpipe, atlp catback exhaust, cold air intake and fully tuned flash pro.

All of that is over $2,700 new, maybe $2,000 used.

My 08 base TL was still slow as hell. I never took it to a drag strip but I'm sure it would have probably ran 14.7 at best.

I dynod it and it only made 230whp and 192tq. That's with all those mods I listed above.

A buddy of mine dynod his 07 auto the same day. His only mod was xlr8 catback exhaust. He made 210whp on the same dyno.

I now have another car that runs low 14s and makes 260whp stock.

For $1,000 your best power mods are going to be a catless J-Pipe and a Flashpro. We offer our V2 J-Pipe that deletes the third catalytic converter but doesn't throw a check engine light. It's also made from U.S. grade Stainless Steel and manufactured here in the U.S. You'll pick up some extra horsepower from it and it will add a nice deep exhaust note. You can check out the details and pricing right on our website:
XLR8 J-Pipe - Excelerate Performance - Japanese and European Performance Specialists!!

We dynoed a TL-S that got 20hp and 30tq from our J-Pipe. You can also PM me for great pricing on the Flashpro! I'm not sure if you'll be able to run near a 14 second 1/4 mile but they will help. As Tony mentioned, a nitrous kit might be the best bang for the buck. We offer nitrous kits as well!
