2007 TL Type S Custom Exhaust w/ Pics/video

Guys,

I posted this in my old thread call "2007 Tl Type S dyno". I wanted to start a new thread so, I know how many people are veiwing it.

I had this custom exhaust done for my shop car. It uses the following parts:

(2) Megan Racing mufflers 2.5" inlet, 4" Tips 304 Stainless Steel w/removable scilencers.
2.5" 304 stainless steel tubing

I had posted dyno numbers in my previous post. My baseline numbers were 268.3whp. I am going to try and get dyno numbers with this exhaust by the end of the week. Exhausts may be for sale on my web site if dyno numbers are good.

Also, check out my website for video and more pics: www.cardinalmotorsports.com

Video will be up soon.

funny thing is thats how the y pipe should have come from the factory... not too sure about the 2.5 tubing since you can't roll without the silencers without pulling your hair out...

as for the mufflers, damn man shoulda hit me up I coulda got you 2 Skunk2 Canisters for $300 shipped

Overall I give it a 10/10 woulda gave you more props if it weren't for them gay ass canisters

did ur shop do the mandrel piping too? damn...id buy the piping....
car sounds great....but to be honest...lately ive been realizing all muffler/exhaust sound the same on the TL....except of just how loud differs.

i agree with stillhere bout the mufflers tho
but hey, it sounds fantastic and the quality is superb

Yes, the shop did all the pipe work.

As for the canister mufflers, it's all about your own tastes I guess. To me the canisters give it more of a JDM look. What would you have used an oval muffler? I think it sounds and looks fantastic. Can't wait to get it to the dyno.

Also, it's not that loud inside the car when you are driving. My s2000 is deff. 5 times louder.

Why? Is it because you like the way they look? or Do you just think they are a better company because they cost more? I could have gotten 2 skunk 2 mufflers alot cheaper than $300.00.

Skunk2 is the shizznit.. lol, but you're right about the branded vs price ratio... I guess
but um yeah I got 2 skunk2 canisters for my setup...

how much did RJ mufflers charge you for the full job, I was going to stop by there and find out... guessing it was $350-$400 (Well I am guessing you went to rj mufflers since they mandrel bend and their in queens lol)

PM me

ps. forgot to give you props on the clamps after the y pipe, I love those they hold up extremely well

Too bad with those canister mufflers you can't maintain the stock tips, I good exhaust with a stock look would have been killer.

I didn't go to Rj's customs. I called him and he wanted $1000.00 for just the stainless piping and welding and no mufflers. A local shop here did it for me.

No numbers yet. I called the dyno guy and the first opening he had was monday October first. So, I should have some numbers by monday.

Also, Stillhere are you going to the meet in yonkers? I will be attending if the weather is nice. You could get the chance to here and see the exhaust in person. Just thought I might add that in.

yea thats what I told him, it is a simple job too since he clamped them... there is a small section of straight pipe from the 90 degree bend on the y pipe to the 90 degree elbow before the mufflers, he'd just have to extend that portion by 1.5 inches on both sides and readjust his hangers...

It was a sad day at the dyno guys. The car made the same amount of horse power all they way through the power band as the first baseline dyno did but, then @ about 6500rpms the exhaust actually lost 4hp. May need to go back to the drawing board. I will keep everyone posted.

maybe it's the mufflers? I have 2.5" piping on my 3.2L, but with HKS mufflers, and I definitley felt power bump.

Well since the numbers are in I am going to have to say try it out at 2.25".... the 2.5" is just too big... it sounded beautiful though....

And go with skunk2 canisters

2.5 isn't too big... i'm willing to bet it's a design flaw. and IMO you need a resonator in there.

i'm running a full 2.5" catback and put down 250whp on my automatic.

Vibrant has a few good ones and also I've been reading about one called aeroturbine it is supposed to add considerable backpressure

I still think 2.25 is better (evil grin) if it wasn't then why do the mass produced exhausts come 1/10 of an inch bigger at 2.36"...

I am going with as close to the greddy setup as possible, greddy is 60mm, so I am going 2.25" good luck with 2.5" N/A... with an S/C I guarantee an 04-06 with this setup would gain atleast double digit gains

That's why i'm not sweatin the exhaust not putting down power. I am going to try and build a custom turbo kit next. I think the 2.5 will work like a charm with the turbo setup. I my even have to upgrade to 3.0 with a turbo. Just have to do a little research before I start.
