2005 Acura TL AUTOMATIC performance

Hey guys.
So big question. I'm new to the Acura community. My friend has given me his 2005 acura tl. He took real good care of it. 140,000 miles and runs absolutely great!

I don't want to race the car but would love to add some performance parts on this vehicle. Asking everyones opinion please. I want to add some horsepower to it, make it sound nice and still be able to pass inspection. Thank you everyone.

Hey, I too have an automatic (2006 Acura TL base w/ navi). Here are my plans I've laid out for the car including what has already been done. In your case, if you just want a little oomph and some nice sound, start with a cold air intake from AEM and the ATLP V2 j-pipe and stay away from short ram intakes. They sound good but you're actually working backwards technically speaking because they suck in hot underhood air. I will have it be known that taking out the stock airbox is going to be a royal pain in the ass unless you remove your front bumper. I didn't remove my bumper but had to use a hacksaw to cut the stock one into separate pieces so that I could eventually pull it out. Anyways, here's my list:

Current mods + other things

Engine:

AEM Cold Air Intake - done
ATLP V2 J-Pipe - done
ATLP Hi-Flow Cat - done

Carbon Fiber Hood - pending
Rear Window Visor - pending

No problem man, it seems like when I'm pressed to get information on my car, it falls on deaf ears until after the fact so I try to stand out from the norm and provide newcomers with as much information as possible so that the question asking is at a bare minimum. Good luck with the new ride and if you have any more questions just PM me!

Long tube J-pipe and a TL-S rear anti-roll bar are the best two to start with.

Don't forget you've also saved a lot of weight from the intake and exhaust mods, pulley etc. The 3.7 setup also knocks off a little weight.

On the flip side, be careful with aftermarket parts such as rotors. I had some that were heavier than stock, but my current ones are about the same weight as OEM. Keep an eye on tire weight too. Stay away from Bridgestones; they're always porky. Coilovers/aftermarket shock and spring combos usually save a few pounds as well.

Thanks man. Hey do you know how much weight I've saved based on all my exhaust bolt ons versus the stock OEM weight parts? I'm having a hard time compiling a list of weights for all the OEM parts' weights that I've switched out for aftermarket. I'm going to start a thread about this as well because I'm sure people are curious, but yeah let me know if you have an idea. Thanks👍🏻

This is the most comprehensive list you're going to find.

I haven't weighed my car, but considering stock is 3482 for a manual w/o navigation, I'm right around 3300 even.
