Question 2.5 Custom exhaust piping w/ stock mufflers????

Hello Acurazine:

Just been thinking about getting a custom 2.5 exhaust done and keeping the stock mufflers. Has anybody done it? Opinions? Video Clips? How does it sound? Should I Just get a comptech? Bigger piping (3')?

All insight is greatly appreciated!

dont need any larger diameter than that. why would you want to leave the stock mufflers? are you just trying to get a different sound from the exhaust?

I just like the looks of stock tips. Is the stock diamater size of the piping already 2.5? Will I gain any performance w/ stock mufflers or should i upgrade? Im just trying to keep it stealthy.

upgrade the mufflers, keep the stock tips. a bunch of us just cut the tips of the oem mufflers and weld them onto aftermarket mufflers. 2.5 is bigger than oem, but if you are staying with the oem mufflers you will only notice a change in the tone. you can free up the flow by getting some aftermarket mufflers and still control the sound by using resonators.

the stock exhaust is already 2.5" (the part between the cat and the part where it splits into two muffler). You don't need to go anywhere bigger then 2.5", even with a supercharger. I noticed on my 2.5" straight pipe (no muffler, just a straight pipe), the low end is noticably weaker but the high end just screams.

What you can do is change the muffler and have the muffler shop weld your stock tips back on. That way it would look stock but with a different exhaust tone.

Thanks for the help guys! Really appreciate it.

Is the pipe from the "Y" 2.25? or 2'?

Im planning on getting the 2 magnaflow mufflers #14362, magnaflow 14' resonator #10416, and welding the stock tips back on.

I've been searching for sound clips of this setup since seeing quite a few tL's the same setup but cant find any

Thanks anyway guys.
