'06 TL Borla Catback SOUNDCLIP
For what it's worth, this is my catback system and AEM CAI. 2.5' straight pipe to the Y, then 2.25' piping to my turbo borla mufflers. Essentially its a lot more subtle than the HKS and skunk mufflers however its not too quiet. Last night i went i shoot this with the help a friend. Obviously there is a difference in sound when in gear...i'll try and get a drive by video later on this evening uploaded. . .Enjoy

I forgot to add, i deleted the resonators except for the cannister one in the middle of the car (what's the correct terminology for that res?) Replaced the third cat with a highflow cat from magnaflow!

you kept the mid muffler you mean...? I honestly feel it sounds the same as stock... and damn you put it too close to the camera so it got distorted at high rpms
ps. ur narration is hilarious

See i felt the same way, just that i had it side by side w/ a stock TL and i did hear a huge difference. Now when i'm in the cabin i hear the drone from about 2-3k rpm and after that its just the intake. So basically if i change the mufflers to something else it would make it more/less louder? I have borla turbo mufflers on her now...I would have preferred a deeper loudness but everyone who has heard it in person thinks i'm crazy...hmmm!?
P.S. Yes the mid-muffler is still in, thanks 4 the terminology and turn your speakers up when listening, maybe it'll enhance the reality. . .lol

That's definitely not close to stock from what I'm hearing. Try taking some clips of the car in movement so that it's under a load. So you fabbed an entire catback system ??? How much work/time did that take? Nice work nevertheless!

Completely custom fabbed...Price on stainless steel piping and labour was 440$ Canadian and a bit over 400 dollars for the mufflers and the magnaflow hi-flow cat! I'm really curious as to the minute increase in performance lol. Did it all in just under 5 hours. . .

mmmh $440 for the stainless steel is pretty good, I mean my current setup is a cut and paste lol to say the least I got parts from all sorts of places to make what I currently have... and that is NO CABIN DRONE.... kinda making me think whether I want to change it or not... I may go with something insane later on but the drone is making me think otherwise.... I wish I had a camera that could captivate how the drone completely diminishes by 95% the very second I let off the gas... and at 2-3k rpms it isn't even loud at all... I've got 2.25" tubing... stock mid muffler... followed by stock y pipe... followed by 2.25" tubing again to the skunk2's... and I just cant describe how non-existent the drone is....

What causes drone? I mean other than the pipe difference you and i have (stillhere153) we both have our mid-mufllers, seems to me the only big difference are the mufflers, is it just because of the difference in frequency of sound produced from your mufflers vs mine around 2-3krpm?

The drone in the cabin seems to come from the 2.5" tubing... me, I am down for 2.25" for life...unless I am F/I which demands 3"...
The Pm I sent you gives you 2 usefull resonators... the 2nd (hushpower) being the more expensive is the most effective and would require you to remove the midmuffler all together

If you have a base TL, the Tanabe Medalion Touring would be a quieter option with less drone than most other exhausts.
