'05 TL Headers Question

Has anyone purchased headers made for the j30 accord and used on TL? I had a J35a4 swapped in my del sol and used accord headers since none were made specifically for the Honda odyssey (obviously) but wondered if the same would work for the TL with the small flange like some accords have.

Also wondering if it would throw any CEL's or if it's just a waste of my time to even attempt to replace the pre-cats with headers.

Thanks!

quick note; these engines dont use headers.
so, not to sure how you used an accords header for the J35 engine...

The j35a4 does use headers. There is a model of accord that they make headers for with the single flange. It replaces the stock manifold cats and j pipe. I figured since a j30 header with the six tubes worked on a j35 then why wouldn't a j30 header made for the single tube style work on a j32? Figured there's gotta be someone out there that has tried it at least.

Lol, those aren't headers. They're PCD's bolted to a J pipe. Lots of people here running that setup.

I think what he's asking is if those that are listed for the 03-07 Accord J30 would work on the TL. And typically in engine terminology, those ARE headers - the TL just doesn't have individual primaries and has a Catalytic converter that bolts right off the head. I still don't understand where the term 'pre-cat' originated, since it IS the cat, it's not before the cat. There is a 3rd cat, but from my understanding it is only for ULEV and the primary cats are the ones that are monitored from an emissions standpoint.

I am absolutely sure that the flange is the same and would bolt up. I don't know about the fitment of the pipes in the chassis though. They may hit something. I'd also think that the J pipe it has would have the correct length since the J pipe for the Accord is the same as well.

The next thing people here will mention is how terrible it is because it's cheap Chinese steel and will crack and doesn't flow. They will mostly be correct in that it is cheap Chinese steel, and may crack eventually, but so did the RV6 precats - now they are cast. The J pipe I'm not sure on - I think that design looks close but not exactly like the RV-6 V1 J-pipe, back before it was RV-6 and just Richie.

However, with all of the "dissing" done already, I was wondering if anyone had tried it as well - for fitment reasons. The price is absurdly low compared to the RV6 PCD & J-Pipe. For someone that has cats that are shot, or an oem J-Pipe that is broken, that might be a cheap alternative vs. OEM and give a slight performance increase.

Might just give em a shot - for $175 shipped, I can afford to throw them away if they dont work. Hell, even salvaging the flanges and I'd recoup $100 worth since that's what P2R sells them for.

Yes, anything that bolts up to the J30 will also bolt up to the J32. And $175 is the price? I doubt it'll hold up for long, and yes I would also be concerned about fitment at that price.

Thanks guys! That's exactly the answer I was asking for. I probably won't buy these I just used them for the picture, I'll do some shopping around. My biggest concern was fitment and check engine lights due to cat delete.

These don't appear to come with 02 defoulers so you will probably throw a CEL. You could make the DIY defoulers which would prevent it, but its a general principle that you will need some method of fooling the computer when removing the cats. If I get them I'll post up if they fit.
