'04 TL modifications / help needed.

hey all, I've had my 2004 TL for about 3 months and I have been fixing it up from oil leaks.. Too new rotators and brakes.. New power steering etc etc. pretty much my car is in perfection condition with 180k miles. I really love the car and I want to put a new exhaust system / suspension / all the goodies but I don't know what too get. My spending range is 3k - 5k. Give me some options.

I'll beat others to the "to each there own" and so on. Check our venders, search the forum. Everyone has own preferences on stuff. God starting be RSB for handling. I'm on Koni Yellows w/ Eibach springs, love the ride/feel.

Suspension, exhaust for sound, and visual mods. Check the section above. Without a proper tuning solution for our cars it's tough to go the performance route.

Ganja - Just do it right the first time.
Don't cheap out and have patience.
Please visit our Vendors - XLR8 , HeelToe ....

Some suggestions :
1) Cold air intake ( Aem ... ) Check out the BM for a used one and slap on a new filter.
2) J-pipe ( Xlr8 ... ) I would be on the BM searching for a very gently used one.
3) Cat-Back ( Xlr8 ... ) Again check out the BM and find a deal.
If you can't find one and don't have enough $ for a quality unit like a Brand new XLR8 cat-back.
I would Highly suggest a Tsudo Cat-back. It's a full bolt-on unit, sounds nice, and install was a piece of cake. I was actually surprised.
Although the craftsmanship is not top notch, and after a few miles you will have to repair it ( re-weld a few spots ) , but like I said if your on a budget it's a good unit. If you have a few bucks and don't want any headaches just get a cat back from XLR8. They fit perfect, amazing quality, sound nice and there built to last...probably longer than your TL will last.

Once you've done that see where you want to go : Lighter Pulley,Lighter flywheel, SH-awd intake manifold swap, ported runners etc. You might also be interested in some PCD's.
They have catted and un-catted versions. Please keep in mind a PCD setup with a jpipe deleting the 3rd cat will be very very smelly.
windows down you will smell it, windows up and come to a red light with your heat on you will smell it.... but the power is NICE. So it's up to you.
Above all please make sure the Tl is maintained well and it's in perfect condition prior to moding....( no oil leaks, over heating etc... )

Also suspension is key. I hate how the TL drives and handles in stock form. The 6-mt is really stiff and too high for my liking.
invest in some lowering springs and shocks ( tein/h&r springs & koni shocks ) or better yet get a coil over set-up ( tein, xlr8 , functions , ground control / koni yellows ... )

Anyways enjoy your TL.

It's an amazing car, really reliable and fun to drive. But it is what it is unless you go all out and tune it and add forced induction...

Just my 0.02

Thanks for the mention there TLOHTL. I should say the recommendations exhaust parts is maybe taking out of consideration the look and sound the customer is looking for. ATLP is another awesome options for exhaust parts that make power and sound great.

GanjaGreens, welcome to the TL (one of the best cars to come out of Honda for 15 years or so). Don't be afraid to utilize our free consultation services to wrap your head around what your options are: Customer Services: Consultation
