I too am up for renewal once again and I am far less happy with the XM/Sirius offering than ever before.

The commercials are getting worse everyday; some channels have more than others. I also am very displeased with the overall sound quality and signal strength. Is it just my car or are others out there noticing a lot of signal blips and interruptions where the sound just goes dead for a second or two and comes back? Mine does this all the time wherever I drive, and it has only happened since the merger/buyout was completely finalized.

I have heard from a good friend who has strong former ties to XM, and he said they must have switched over to Sirius transmitters/satellites from XM in a lot of areas and their equipment is not as good as XM's was.

There is no way in heck I will renew at full price; I will only consider it if I get the $77 deal for the 4th year in a row.

I bought my car used and they gave it to me for 3 months free. Then I disconnected for a while. And then after the merger I called again and they gave me another 3 months free. Then the weekend it was supposed to end they gave me $20 for 3 months I think. Then I called again and this September their giving me $77/year with free internet.

to me, it's worth it for the 77/year

The sound quality is poor compared to CD and even FM. The dials are horrid at tuning into channels (non-navi TL). The quality of what's on the radio is OK. The selection is their strong point. Whatever mood I'm in I can find something decent... compared to terrestrial crap commercials.

XM needs to stream their shit at higher bitrates. I have no idea if that will ever happen and work for our vehicles

I don't really to listen to XM so there was no real point for me to renew it. I just listen to one AM station and a few FM ones that's it.

My renewal is up in March 2010. I plan to cancel it before the automatic renewal so I can get the $77.00 deal. I drive from NC to NJ and back every few weeks so XM is nice to have. It was also great to have on our 3 cross country roadtrips.

exactly. Whatever floats your boat, man.

I personally find that it's worth it. However, your opinion is just as valid.

I decided to let mine expire. Got the car in January...my stepdad had had it and it ran out a few months back. With radio, and ipod and cd's and tapes...I don't spend enough time in the car to justify it. I will miss the comedy channels for road trips though.

With my i-simple too...for some reason my radio would freeze up when on sat mode. not in ipod or aux though. either way, it was annoying.

My bank canceled my credit card and issued a replacement recently.
I figured I would let my XM lapse since I hardly use it. Somehow, XM was able to obtain the replacement CC #/Exp Date and they placed me on a 3 month XM subscription.
Now I really want to terminate the XM service since I hardly use it, so I will call and cancel.
Question: has anyone had XM obtain the new CC info and charged that card without your knowledge or approval?

PS:
I also have been noticing a lot of audio drops recently.

Did you call them to cancel-if not they will continue on the automatic renewal. If they do not have a current credit card # to use they will start billing you for 3 months at a time. The quality has gone down since the merger.
