Yep Another HFL thread.. Lasted 8 years

so after 8 years of the HFL working flawlessly. I go to start the car this morning and realize my phone isn't connecting to the HFL.

Diagnostics says everything is OK but when I go to name my phone it just disconnects. I can go through the whole menu > phone setup>pairing> password enter> but fails at naming the phone.

probably going to stop by a U-Pull junk yard this weekend and see if I can find a TL with a HFL module.

I guess this is a sign that the unit is going bad and needs to be replaced?

Depends...

My car's HFL sometimes misses connecting to the phone on one ignition cycle about once per 4-6 months, but connects on the next ignition cycle if the car has been off for a few minutes.

If your HFL works later today, chalk it up to the rare electronic glitch.

If not, you can try baking the HFL circuit board to see if that works, before pulling a used one from another TL.

so I tried pairing my old iphone 4, iphone 5s, iphone ^ & 6 plus, Samsung galaxy s4 and s5 and they all fail to connect when the system prompts me to name each device.

Guess the module is toast. I'll give the baking method a try first.

also, are the 04-06 HFL modules interchangeable with 07-08?

Bummer, but easy DIY and not very expensive regardless of how you get a working HFL.

I didn't look at the part numbers, but the '08 HFL unit doesn't even use the same part name as the '04-'07 HFL units. I thought the '04 HFL part number was different or changed, too.

Best to stick with the '05-'06 HFL part numbers-- they were cheaper than the '07+ units a year or so ago.
