4.62 works fine in my car. well, it's actually messed up a couple of time with a disc read error. I just had to reboot the navigation to fix it. That could be because of it being a copy of the disc I made.

Yes, it does have some glitches (from what I've read), so I would just wait until the next version comes out. I will be upgrading again.
So if the "glitch free" version 4.62 is supposed to come out in Jan. '08, when do you think the next updated version will be out?

4.62 is suppose to work in all RLs 2005 to 2008. Acura and Alpine found out it wouldn't work in 05 RL. Believe me I've tried it in my 05 RL. System won't boot, all you get is the inital screen which flashes on and off every ten seconds. In the RL forum this has been discussed in several threads. Some file problems on the disc. 4.62 disc is available in 08 Acuras and some 08 Hondas only. It will work in 07-08 TLs and 06-08 RLs from what I've found out in the RL threads and talking to Alpine. I think what will come out next year (Jan) will be a new version 4.70 maybe.

^^^Thanks, Ernie!

Man, I wonder how that guy got an advanced copy of that 4.70 DVD? Can't wait until it's available for all of us.

I have a 2005 TL and I would really like to do the OK button hack. I cannot use my arms and hands due to paralysis since childhood. My car has a steering device on the floor so I steer with my left foot. Unless someone is with me in the car, pressing the OK button is impossible because I simply can't reach it. Of course the voice-activated climate control, tunes, etc. is a great help, but I'd like to use the navi too. I'd like to order the new DVD 3.70 and do the hack. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you have to pay sales tax on top of the $155.00 or was that the total charge ?

Believe there's only tax if you're in CA (at least I didn't have to pay any when ordering from MD)

Ordered mine today....waited for this day for a while. It is a bargain compaired to all other cars...I bought my wife a Lexus RX 330 a while back and that nav disk is 400 dollars so consider this a steal. I was going to buy an IS 350 until I had a chance to play with the nav on my wifes car and man was it a let down......I need the nav for my job as I do 65-70k a year on the car all over NC and SC. I loved the nav on the TL and I was sold on it after doing my homework. Buy the new nav disks you cheap TL owners!!!! It's a steal...I will give you the feedback when I get it and I paid 155 shipped.

It's probably being shipped from California, in which case they have to charge tax to anyone ordering from within that state. This is pretty standard practice when you order things—I live in Virginia and if I order from Crutchfield and have it shipped to my home (also in Virginia), they charge me tax, but if I have it shipped to my office (located in the District of Columbia) they do not.

I just ordered the Navi update at the $149 price (plus $12 for UPS 2-day shipping...it's only $6 more than UPS ground, so why not). I haven't updated it since I bought my TL in 2004, so I figured it's time. Perhaps they might have some of the new ramps at the Springfield Interchange on there.

I ordered my disk for my 2005 Accord for 165 and some change......

I talked to a rep @ Alpine and she said even though it says 2007 update on the website is for sale, its the 2008 disc w/ the updated DST settings, POI's and cities that are listed on the website.

I was assuming because of the updated DST software, they were possibly giving people a bit of a price break since they are too cheap to offer the fix for free.

That and I'm willing to bet that the sales of these DVD's has been slow. I am a big enthusiast and I still have my 04 disc, I wonder how many normal TL drivers get the DVD upgrade every other year......not many I'd bet

Me thinks I will order one from the USA site.
Any update on this? I want to find out if the US disc works on our Canadian models as well.

The end of next month will be 4 years since I ordered my TL and I still have the original disk. Perhaps I'll get a new one when the car is 5 years old.

I'd like to know if the update has the correct roads for downtown Boston and the Big Dig. I'm tired of it telling me to take the offramp for Chinatown on the left. There are no lefts anymore in that area; so I think it's deliberately trying to put me into the wall. The exit numbers are wrong too.

You can always go to a dealership and sit in a new TL to see if the maps are updated.

its been my experience with update discs that you might not even see a change and its a big waist of money...i will never do an update disc again, not for the cost of nearly 200 bucks...now if it were say 75 bucks i might do it...i wont keep my car more than 5 years, so i am going to live with the disc thats in there...

My new disc came yesterday and I installed it this morning. It has several new roads in my area that the old one did not, so I'm rather chuffed that I will no longer have tons of breadcrumbs showing up less than half a mile from home.

What are some other changes or "enhancements" as they like to call it have you seen other then the new roads? What about points of interest? I hate the fact that if you search by company name it will show locations completely irrelevant to your current location.

I only installed the disc this morning, so I haven't gotten to play with it yet. I suppose I could walk over to the showroom to see if they have one I could play with since I am at the Acura dealer right now (trying to fix a slow leak in a tyre....the gas station I initially went to could not find anything, but I know there is a leak of some sort), but I don't want to go out in the rain to walk over there.

I was chuffed to see it has vastly improved coverage of parts of Canada. I like to go skiing up in Quebec and previously the coverage ended just to the northwest of Montreal. Mont-Tremblant now has full coverage; so does Quebec City and I saw that there is at least some level of coverage up to the Saguenay.

What was really odd was that Moosonee and Moose Factory, Ontario, were on the map (although as unverified roads). The reason this is odd is that you cannot drive there. No roads lead up there and you must either fly or take a train. Can't imagine anyone would try to ship a TL up there.

My initial impression is: Big Whoop

I haven't explored it extensively, but after a couple of days it doesn't seem all that much more informed than my original '04 disc.

I'm still jealous of the Nav in my wife's '07 Odyssey. Better maps, more choices of zoom and word-based voice recognition. I guess I have to buy a new car to get all of that.

But, I could swear that the '08 still has a tape deck.

A tape deck?! Who the heck needs a tape deck in 2008?

Yeah, like search for Home Depot or Walmart, and it'll come up with one hundreds or thousands of miles away.
A software design fuckup if there ever was one.

I like the tapedeck. I can plug my mp3 player in using the cassette adapter that I have. I find the adapter works better than the FM modulator that I have.

My point *exactly* What is needed is an audio in jack, not a tape deck. I had the tape adapter for a while, but got tired of the low quality. I finally went to a car stereo place and had them install an iPod adapter directly into the head unit.

They added a switch (both the switch and the iPod dock cable are in one of those mini boxes under the stereo) so I could switch between XM and iPod.

In limited additional driving I noticed that the Navi now shows all the government buildings in downtown DC. Not sure why they added this, but I notice that Google Maps does the same, and Google Maps is based on NAVTEQ as well.

On the other issue, I like having the tape player. Don't use it that often, but I have various things on tape that I do not have on CD and do not plan to transfer to CD because they won't fit.

Just installed the new nav disc in our TL the other day. Other thank some nice updates to local roads and POI's, the joystick seems much less prone to inadvertent "selecting" while panning around, which has always been an issue in our car. I wonder if they added a delay or some other fix to prevent that.

Otherwise, I don't see any other changes of note, as expected.

Received my new disc the other day and noticed some new POI's. I also noticed that a lot of the freeway offramp numbers for So. Cal. have been updated. The Navi now refers to the Culver Dr. offramp off I-5 as "exit 99". Before, it didn't say anything.

PEI, or Prince Edward Island for you canadian challenged people, still does not even appear on the map in 3.70 but yet on the Navteq site where you can report issues with the navi information has it on there. I logged a case with Navteq but not sure if I will hear back from them. Any ideas why they can't put eastern Canada on there? Garmin has it.

I also noticed that when driving through downtown L.A. the navi shows the outlines of the buildings.

I've logged a couple of cases with them over the last few years and haven't heard anything back either.

So what else is new?

I notice they added some roads in New Brunswick, but it cuts off to the west of Moncton. Seems strange to me. I also don't understand why they can't add Mexico, or at least the border areas (I wouldn't want to drive my TL too far into Mexico given the lousy Pemex gas).
