XM to Sirius.... again, but a new angle

Hey guys... well, looks like about 9 months till Howard starts on Sirius, and I want to be there when he goes... anyway, this has been talked about lots, but I have a new angle on a XM to Sirius conversion.

I know the TL head unit is made by panasonic, and it doesn't appear to have the XM tuner built in. Anyone know if that is correct? So, Panasonic at one time made a Sirius tuner which is still available refurbshed or on ebay... any chance you think this thing will just plug right on into our head unit, and with the addition of a Sirius antenna... bam, we're in business?

Here the link to the Sirius tuner manual:

Nope

They are different animals, but not a bad idea. The old aftermarket Panasonic won't speak any bus language, which is necessary for audio to pass to the headunit. And you're correct, it is a Panasonic head unit. The best bet is to make a custom y harness with a relay that keeps the XFM box powered but hijacks the audio with a Sirius source. I'm tring to put one together now, but it's going to take some time.
