Question XM Satellite problem

I've had my 2007 TL for about two weeks and one day encountered a strange anomaly with XM reception. I was scanning, using steering wheel controls, in "category" mode and suddenly lost all reception. I thought it might have something to do with signal blockage, though it was a clear night and I wasn't in a mountain pass -- just driving city streets. All other audio functions (FM, CD, AM) worked fine, but every time I switched back to XM, I got nothing. Finally arrived home, turned off the ignition, turned it back on and XM radio was once again working fine.

Anyone every encounter this problem?

Yes, this is my exact same problem and on both occasions it was on flat land not mountains or near buildings. I'd like to know why too.......FM was okay. QR

Same thing happens to me on occasion. Strangely enough, the same thing also happens to my Delphi XM2GO. Here is my theory: XM requires all XM radios to use the exact same tuner circuitry, designed by them. I think there is a bug in this circuitry, which is found in all XM radios regardless of manufacturer, where if you change channels too fast, it just kind of craps out.

If this happens in your TL, turn the stereo off and then turn it back on, and the XM should reset and start working again. No need to turn the ignition off for me.

I believe you're right. After I thought about it, I realized that I was trying to go thru the stations too quickly, and that's when the problem happened. At the time I didn't think about turning off the stereo and turning it back on to reset it, because I didn't know what was going on. Duh. Thanks for the reply
