XM Radio Problem

I just bought a 2005 TL. I'm trying to get my XM activated but cannot get to channel 0 and I have no idea what my radio ID number is. Does anybody here know how I can find out without going back to the dealer? I tried calling XM and they, of course, were zero help.

isn't it in any of the documentation in the glovebox?

you should always be able to get to channel 0- that's weird.

You have to tune to 0 with the right hand knob. Up and down on the steering wheel jumps to the next preset.

I tried using the tuning knob. I used pretty much everything on the darn panel. I checked in the glove box after reading through a few other posts and found an 8 digit code, but it wouldn't work when I tried it with XM.

Welcome to the forum.
Check inside the pockets of the leather case holding the owner's manual and warranty cards. Remember to flip through each page of the manuals and folders; I think the codes were on business-card size pieces of cardboard or plastic which some people may slip inside the manual. One code is a navigation system code; the other is the radio code.
Also check the trunk tray above the spare tire in case dealer or prior owner put paperwork and codes there along with the cargo netting. Also check the various storage bins to make sure no one put the code cards there (for example, I keep a parking tag and an airport parking keycard in the lower console bin next to the power outlet, while CDs and an XM guide are in the upper console bin)
If that doesn't work, call Acura toll-free concierge or go to the nearest dealer to have it set up the TL.
Hope you're problem gets resolved!

Cinda:

Welcome to Acurazine and the 3G TL Forum.

Your radio code is a combination of letters and numbers similar to this:

4Y8C20XD (not a real code)

As mentioned, the code should appear on Channel 0, one click down from channel 1. I'm at a loss why it doesn't show up. Does the radio work normally otherwise?

When you finally are able to find your code (look through all the paperwork or go to an Acura dealer and ask them to help you), then go to the top of the index page and find the sticky thread "How to renew your XM radio for $77".

Many people who bought used TLs were able to get the discounted deal that is detailed there.

One last thought: You have to push the XM radio button on the dash to get to that function. Is your TL possibly a Canadian car?

Also, when trying to activate or use the XM to be outside with the car on and a clear view of the southern sky.

Believe me, I have customers that have a hard time with the activation process all the time. Once it is outside and picking up the preview channel (channel 1) , you should be able to go to 0.

Good luck and welcome to the forums, its nice to have another pretty face here, as Xpditor is not all that "pretty". heheheh

When you're using the right knob to dial down to zero, what happens? IS it possible you are in "category" mode or whatever they call it so you're just cycling back to the end of the current group? (Did this make sense to anyone? )

I think you use the MODE button to switch so that the dial will get you down to 0.

Just a thought...

Push comes to shove, and you can't get the knob to get you to channel "0", just hit the voice button and say "XM channel zero". That might work?
