XM Radio Cuts out, reboot fixes it.

The first time this happened I thought it was a fluke, but several times now XM radio will just cut out completely. It seems to happen when switching stations. The only way to get XM to work again is shut the car off and turn it on again, thus rebooting the computer. Is anyone else seeing this? Is there a fix?

I have had this happen to me twice in the month that I have owned the car. I park my car in a garage, and it seems to happen when I start the car in the garage. It looks like it switches between minimal signal and no signal several times for a few seconds, and then the sound goes away competely. I still get the text of the songs that are currently on, but the only way I have gotten the sound to come back is by turning the car off and then back on. The radio and CD player will work, just XM craps out. I am not sure of why this happens, but I know the dealer's line will be...'well we can't replicate the problem so we can't fix it'. I don't have a fix and I wish I knew what caused it...

Good so I'm not alone in this. Has anyone else seen this problem? It's happened to me frequently enough that I am thinking I won't sign up after the trial period. If it cuts out on the highway I know I'm not going to restart my car while rolling, and I'm definetely not going to pull over, I'll just resort to radio/CDs/Ipod. Maybe if the system wasn't running Windows CE a reboot wouldn't be required.

It sounds like you might have a problem with the antenna or some other portion of the headunit related to XM. I would take it to the dealer and explain your problem before you just give up.

Yea, I've been able to reproduce this by switching preset channels quickly. I'll talk to the dealer about it.

Yeah, this just happened to me this morning. I'd be interested to see what your dealer says. I've had XM (plug 'n play units) in past vehicles and never had this happen before. I'm glad I'm not alone.
