XM presets not sticking

Mu buddy has a 2007 TL and every few times he gets into his car, his XM presets default back to channel 001. Why is this and how does he fix?

Is he using the same key each time? Each key has its own presets.

Has he had the TL for more than 90 days? If yes, did he renew the XM subscription after the free 90 day trial period?
Are other presets for the car (mirror, seat) affected? Does he get other XM channels via tuner knob? If no to both, then XM subscription expired. If yes to either, let the dealer handle problem- either fob or ECU related.
