XM/Ipod question

Anyone know if it would be possible for an ipod/mp3/whatever adapter to basically *pretend* to be the signal(s) XM sends to the head unit?

ie, the sound is sent and the track info is sent as well. There is obviously some sort of way for the xm reciever to tell the Head unit the track info. Is the track info transmitted over some acura proprietary method or is it something semi-standardized amongst xm recievers?

The information is transmitted as part of the XM signal. Any XM receiver knows what to do with it. It is hard to "pretend" to be sending the signal unless you know the make up of it.
