Will a Navigation Bezel fit in a non-nav slot?

Before I get slammed, yes, I know I cannot just plug in a Nav unit and it will work, I understand that there is rewiring to do and mods on the car,

however, What I want to do in install a Nexus 7 into my head unit, move the existing HVAC display to the compartment area, but I want to have the nexus 7 controls mapped to the controls on the nav unit. (have the knob control volume, the map button linked to "open google maps" etc)

essentially I just want the enclosure and HVAC controls hooked up to it, and I found a nav unit online for 20$ (broken screen) I was just wondering if that unit (the bezel) plops right into the non-nav space, and if the connectors for the HVAC are the same...

If people manage to convert the non navi to navi; I don't see why the navi panel wont fit.

thanks. I wasnt sure if the mounting brackets or bezels were different. this unit I'm looking at is JUST the screen and immediate surrounding bezel.

Yes it can be done, I have heard of people assigning and wiring the nav buttons to work with the Nexus 7, I don't know how to do it though

Should be the same. The navigation bezel should be just the non navi bezel but with the opening for the navi control buttons at that bottom strip.

It's not super-hard - you need to buy a
Joycon EXR computer Joycon EXR computer
and do some minor software work, as well as cutting into the steering wheel wires, of course. Since I can still use the volume controls by routing the tablet through my iSimple, I'm not sure there is a huge value in custom buttons - maybe using the "channel" up/down buttons to advance music tracks? Or to shift windows on the tablet, from navigation to music to torque, etc...?
