Will the nav system accept a copied DVD-ROM?

Please excuse me if this has been discussed... I have an '04 and haven't updated the DVD, and a friend of mine just got an '06. Can I just make a copy of his DVD? If so, which format do I need? Thanks for any input...

No. It's illegal and it doesn't work anyway.

We have tried to make a copy for backup purposes. Attempts have failed. Read this thread for details.

Used alcohol 120% to copy mine and it worked but I had a 2002 TL-S, 2nd gen. Maybe the changed it for the 3rd gen.
