Where is my HFL?

Hi,

I've just bought my 2004 TL (w/o navi) and they told me at the dealership that all third generation TLs come with standard HandsFreeLink.. but I don't have this option in my car? Maybe its different because its a canadian car? Does anyone know if its still possible to install HFL?

Thanks!

Your TL has the HFL. RTFM.

(Sorry to be so blunt, but it's not an "option." All 3G TLs, including the '04, including Canadian TLs, have the HFL.)

Hi,

Yeah I did read the manual, which points to the HFL controls on the steering wheel. But my steering wheel does not even have these controls! I'll take a picture and post it up soon.

Something's wrong, then, because the controls should be there, lower left quadrant between the spokes. If you have a Navi there should be four buttons there; with no Navi, there should be two.

That is really strange. The HFL buttons should be in the area below the "CH" button. You said your car is used, so I wonder if the previous owner wrecked the car and replaced the steering wheel with one from some other Acura after the airbag deployed. Strikes me as very strange not to see the HFL buttons there, since they should be.

Being as how this pretty much stunned most of us that there are TLs that don't have it. I would have to say that it's going to be tough. You can do it though if you research the electrical schematics for the car. But if it never had it from the factory then it would be an issue to see it in the MID in your gauge cluster.
