What's so great about HFL?

I won't buy another car without it after having it in the TL.

It's very uncool. Don't use it.

Handsfree is a great system, who wants to hold their cell phone and talk anyway? Infact some places its illegal to be on your phone and drive at the same time which is why I think its mandatory that all new cars have it.

^^Im with JTS, Nothing Fancy about it unless you have been stuck driving a Beater for the last 5-10 years but its a necessity now in days and a convenience to have. I love it. I can keep my phone in my pocket and not need to worry about taking it out to call anyone.

Well, the HFL is nice and integrated into the car. Most people who do aftermarket system tend to no bother with radio integration. I've used various of those. They are all pretty terrible. We got my wife a wire in parrot system in her CRV. It has all the functionality of the HFL, but its still not as nicely integrated. Wires running places. Another LCD panel to stick somewhere, etc. The HFL is cool not because of what it does, but because its seamless.

I have an earpiece for use in our other two cars, but the HFL is far more convenient and easier to use. It's also obviously more comfortable not to wear an earpiece. I'm not a huge mobile phone user anyway, but I refuse to use a handheld phone at any time, especially with all three of our cars having manual transmissions.
I roll my eyes when I see TL drivers who think it's OK for them to use handheld phones despite having the HFL.

since my 04 cant transfer my phonebook i have 3 entries..
Home, and then some friends that I pick up regularly at lunch. That's it. It's cool cause it's convenient..but then not at the same time.

I've never transferred my phonebook. I either say the number each time or I say redial.

I use mine almost daily on my commute to an from work. Its nice not having to worry trying to get my touchscreen phone and having to hold it.
Also I have not yet had an issue with voice command, it has never made a mistake, but that could be because I have a very computer-like voice.
Plus bluetooth is scientifically proven to get you laid

It's not a big deal, takes about 10 seconds of my time. I'm just about the only one of my friends that hasn't had a cell phone ticket so it's worth it. You can always dial from the phone and switch over too.

I use the HFL extensively-LOVE the damn thing. I see other TL owners talking on their cell phones with the device up to their ears, and I don't get it.
The HFL actually has 2 phonebooks. The one on your cellphone (if it's downloadable), and the one that you can download yourself by saying the name. So you can either say the name (that you've pre-recorded) or look up the name from your Nav Screen.
It's a beautiful thing.....

It was probably a lot more "cool" when it launched in 2003.
It's definetly "cool" that Acura doesn't leave it as a package add-on for an extra $1000, unlike Lexus, BMW, etc.
Personally I find it "cool" that I can make and recieve calls safer than dialing from the handset.

One of the main reasons I started using it was that it cuts the music on incoming phone calls. No more paranoia that I've missed a call when I got the volume up.

That is the best reason I use it for also. I listen to the music loud and I hated watching the phone so I didn't miss the wife or kids calls. Plus you do not need to turn the music down to talk during the call either as it does it for you.

Sorry but the service manual says that you need the dealer's Honda Diagonistic System (HDS) to reset the pass code for the HFL.

Isn't the transmitter in the upper console? Me thinks it is if I remember correctly. Whenever I used it nobody could hear me so I always had to move my head closer to the console and yell, but then it was distorted. Another reason why I stopped using it.

The microphone is up next to the sunroof switch. If someone says it sounds like you're on a speakerphone, it's because you are! If they don't like it, they can call back some other time.

I use mine more for incoming than outgoing. I get frustrated too much with the voice recognition dialing. Also, in the heat, makes it more difficult due to the vent air providing feedback into the mic.
