What new verizon phone would you upgrade too? (renewal date soon)
Renewal date is soon and the V710 has been a good phone, but I'm ready for something new.
I not looking for the top-of-the-line phone.
I do want bluetooth of course, camera, and speaker phone capable phone. I also want one that i can download ringtones too?
So I'm open for suggestions.
Is there anything new on the near horizon for verizon moderly priced?

I'm in the same boat, renewal coming and they'll give $100 towards new phone. I've narrowed it down to either Motorolla Razor or Samsung A930, I believe that's the #.
They're both bluetooth, vcast, mp3 players, etc. I don't care so much about that, just want good battery life, call quality etc. The Samsung is kinda ugly, so I think I'm leaning towards the Razor.. plus, it seems to work w/ Handsfreelink better.

I've got the the Razr. Very happy with it. I have to recharge battery every 2 days when I'm the car more. I does all that you're asking for for. It is the older version.

I was recently (almost) in the same boat. I switched from Sprint to Verizon and had all sorts of phones to choose from. I almost went with the LG Chocolate since it was so freakin sexy.. but that one 1) doesn't have speakerphone, 2) is billed as an mp3 phone but has no 3.5 mm headset jack (only 2.5 mm with adapter), 3) sharp learning curve with its touch/heat sensitive buttons, 4) a tester for it said that after 3 weeks the slider came a little loose and there was a gap when the phone was closed, 5) no camera flash. I also thought about going for the Razr, but the user interface is big time laggy (I played with it in a mall kiosk). So in the end I narrowed it down to the LG VX-8300 and the Motorola E815. The E815 has the best reception (reportedly), but to me it looks so old and big and ugly. The 8300 is also big and ugly, but it's a little newer. You can see I did intesive research on this. Anyways, to help you decide, check out the reviews on phonescoop.com, and another useful phone forum is howardforums.

I see that people are suggesting some pretty new phones, like the Q and Chocolate. Dunno about you Deman, but when I renew every 2 years, I try to keep it under the $100 so I don't have to pay anything. In fact, when they add rebates to it, and after I sell my old phone on Ebay, I actually make out with a profit.

i say get the razr, first off its mad cheap now,
when i bought my TL, i switched providers to get the best phone and the best blue tooth. I researched and the verizon razr does it all, great connection, no hang ups, caller ID, battery life, and signal.
kazr is going to be phat too, but just like any new car it will have its bugs.
good luck with the decision

I want a Bluetooth-enabled phone for Verizon that DOES NOT INCLUDE A CAMERA. Can't take a camera phone into a courthouse. I assume no such thing exists, but can anyone confirm that? (I just want a phone that phones! None of this extraneous crap marketed at 15-year-old kids!)

I don't want a Blackberry either, though, just a phone that phones. Wouldn't use the Blackberry, so it seems like a waste of money for me.

Is there a sucessor to the XV6700, or another Windoze Mobile based device due out any time soon? I have an XV6600 which I like very much and can make and receive calls via the HFL without battery & signal strength on the MID despite Acura's handsfree link website's claims that this phone is not compatible. I use the phone as my MP3 player and find it curious that only the designers of this PDA model and the new Q figured out that someone might want to use these devices as their MP3 player while putting it in their pocket, particularly their shirt pocket, by locating the headset jack where it belongs on these types of devices ...... ON THE TOP, NOT THE BOTTOM. This is why I never got a Treo.
I've also found a Microsoft screw up in Windoze Mobile 5 versus 2003. With WM5, you get Windoze Media Player 10, which doesn't allow you to edit playlists on the device unlike WMP9 that comes with WM2003. You have to edit them on your PC, a step backwards .... DUH !!!
I like the slimness and light weight of the Q, but I've gotten used to having a touch screen. Factoring in the additional costs of 2 charge/sync stands, new memory card, car charger, and Windows Smartphone software to replace all the software I've purchased for Windoze Pocket PC.... when you add the cost of the phone upgrade going to the Q, $299 W/O data plan, would run me about $600 overall.
I have a hunch there's a Q² is in the works for some future point in time, probably next year.
Thanks ............

I would not recommend the Samsung i730, this is my second one. Biggest gripe is poor connection quality to the TL. Sometimes problem connecting or bluetooth connection will drop. I had a verizon motorola I7..... which was fine, but I got to return it for for $150 credit (some lawsuit). Also the i730 phone is a power whore. I think the battery would be drained if I was in the car for more then 4 hours.
