Smile This is what i was looking for sweet tl

I was looking all over on this forum the acurazine for a TL that was done nice rims and overall look. But the sound system is a priority. now i see the TL has the CD player and tape deck . Who would want to cut up the dash and make it ugly . (you might want to sell it one day i know parting with the TL what am i thinking ) Compared to the stock look. Well searched car domain and found a nice install. Here is a pioneer avic
N4 http://www.cardomain.com/ride/635483 which has a incredible nav system. sorry the oem navi model is not as good as some of the after market navi systems (garmin, alpine pioneer IMO ). they have more features and hands down. Anyways this guy got the pioneer AVIC N4 unit flush mounted not to ruin the overall look of the dash.
It is the 2nd pic and the 15th pic on his page

In the 2nd pic you can see how he still has the two storgae bins intact. So Not to much messing up of the center stack

His clock still works the display over the radio unit. Which is what i was looking for. so i know a few good installers in my area and I know they can replicate the same type of setup. So if you want a great aftermarket system with nav, dvd functions, i-pod audio/video capability, bluetooth, dvd-a functions cd wma, intunes its all there in that one deck. Pioneer has really stepped their game up with their new hU. They fully rival the eclipse and alpine models and are some are cheaper

avic N4 i have seen some on ebay going for close to 100-1200 brand new in the box
its mrsp 1600

Then the big boy the have released is the AVIC Z2 it goes for about 2000 has a 10 GB HD nav bluetooth, ipod, etc

these units work seamlessly with ipods. All you need to buy is a $30 cable from pioneer and it plugs into the front of the deck. It displays like your ipod on the screen oh i forgot to mention these are all touchscreen monitors btw anyhoo , The ipod you can picks yours songs or go right to video and watch podcats , music videos, movies whatever on a clear 7 inch screen.

Once I saw someone finally put one of these in a TL . It showed me the way. Now you can have your reliable, fast and luxurious Tl with some sound to go with.

I am not knocking the OEM system. All I am saying as a guy who always likes to not only modify my cars for power sake. I love a clear sound system. Put these new cars with their one piece center stacks. It is hard to do aftermarket systems without sometimes chopping up the car. These are not the days of 95 integras and 98 accords where you could easily fit almost any stereo in because you usually had a TWO DIN sometimes ONE DIN space where you could put almost any head unit.

I recommend the 1 din version of the pioneer the AVIC N4 because it saves space to keep those smae storage areas that are under head unit . This model you get all the same functions as the more expensive 2 DIN AVIC Z2.

So I just wanted to share this because someone else might have been wondering the same thing. Especially a non-navi 3G TL owner. There are other brands that are good eclipse , alpine etc. But for bang for the buck pioneer seems the best bet compared to eclipse and alpine models.

So if you are someone who puts aftermaket systems in your ride . Here is a way to put a 1 DIN system into your TL without ruining the center stack . I just had to get this off my chest not trying to dis anyone just my opinion.

Drive and love it. Listen and hear the beat

the signal out of the factory HU is a very good one for cars now, so it really doesn't require HU replacement to get good sound. As well, this dude has a non-navi, so he doesn't have to worry about messing up the factory stuff. What bothers me the most on this forum is how members nagg about the tape player. Its there, so what, its not bothering you. Its actually good being there since old people like my parents can listen to their oldies without having to buy new cds.

but back on topic, the non-navi makes it much easier as the HVAC and the clock are controlled though the navi system, but in the non-navi's its controled though the audio display. The car doesn't look as clean as some of the members rides on here. King of Pain has done an awesome carputer setup.
Just my opinion, if you want to throw neon on a TL, go get a civic.

yes the neon part i don't agree with its a luxury car what was he thinking. but the way he got the audio system done was right. So now i understand why his display above the oem radio is still working thanks csmeance .

If i got a TL with a navi I wouldn't go this route for an audio setup. Get Don TV device or something like that to play an ipod audio/video through the nav system. I seen alot of solutions in the faq on how to hack the nav system. Fir non navi this is the way to go IMO you get nav and a kick ass HU to control the audio and also watch whatever video u like

maybe i should PM him about the neon its not a civic its a TL which is a LUXURY car don't disrespect it by doing that to it

if you have a npn-navi, a carputer is the way to go, hook up a good sound card that is fully adjustable to the audio system, add a flash reader and cd drive in the front and use a touch-screen to display the PC. Lso you can play all formats and have the possibility of getting a navi system too.
