What do you play??
What do you play (music) in your 3G TL? Do you use the XM over the radio or CDs over both?
For me it's Country all the way!
XM: 11,16,17, and of course Traffic and Weather 226
FM (Houston): 92.9 and 100.3
And of course my CD player is full (Jason Aldean, Carrie Underwood, Craig Morgan, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney)

That was uncalled for! I just trying to help and you don't have to bite my head off!
I thought Texans are nice...

Mainly listen to XM and a few CDs. Just made a drive to LA from Seattle and bounced from Old school country station to bpm. Had to change it up a bit to stay awake. I need an iPod adapter to bring in the goodies. Wish it was seamless.

My order of preference, DVD-A, then news/talk radio on AM (yes, I am old I guess), then FM.
The sound quality of XM is horrible in my opinion. I did enjoy the two comedy channels though.

All About Trance
Mostly Trance music I've burned onto DVD using Adobeman's program. Before that, I'd cut my sets in half (blasphemous!) onto CDs just to hear my music over crappy radio music. I discontinued my XM subscription long ago because their selection of electronic dance music was weak.

If I could find any DTS DVD-As, I would be playing them all the time...the only one that I could find in any music store in San Diego was Three Doors Down - Away from the Sun. Oh, and of course my Dane Cook CDs!

Since I got XM about 6 months ago, I play that 80% of the time. Ch. 12, 20, 21, 22, 26, 30, 32, 161, 168 and the talk stations. I have to listen to local radio to hear good Country (93.1 WPOC shoutout!) I'll throw in some CD's sometimes, but I've worn my collection out.

The Fry's in San Diego had maybe 10 of them, Best Buy's section was almost non-existant, Tower Records had the best selection of them all.
Even so, I can't seem to find any music from this decade that I would actually listen to in DVD-A format. I think DVD-As are going the way of Sony's MiniDisc. Remember those?

I run the gamut. My current setup:
XM: 80's, Mix, Flight 26, Comedy, the System, Big Tracks.
DVD-A: Seal, Diana Krall, Buena Vista Social Club
CD's: Norah Jones, New Order, a mix CD of Black Eyed Peas, Shakira, the Killers, System of a Down and Linkin Park.
Audible Audiobooks on my Rio 600 MP3 player hooked in through a cassette adapter: Currently listening to the book "Dance of Death" by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child.
Oh, and I pretty much never listen to regular radio.

I think you're right though. I don't think the format will be around for long, and that's unfortunate, given how unbelievably great they sound.

My TL is less than a week old, but here are my thoughts about the audio in a TL. I really wish the 6disc dvd/cd changer played MP3's. Would be great if I could load up SIX dvd-roms of mp3s, that would get me about 5000 songs.
I got the iPod musiclink for free so I've been using that. Other than the lack of song information & difficulty of finding songs, it's great for random play and has great sound quality. For some reason, it sounds better than audio cd's.
I just dabbled with Adobeman's DVD audio utility and that'll be great to use. If I can get roughly 70 songs per DVD x 6 = 420 + 900 songs on ipod, I'll be satisfied for a while.
Although XM is nice for adding variety to ears, I'm not that impressed by it and probably won't renew after 3 months, even at that $77/yr deal. My plan is to do research about the dvd video conversion and eventually play DVD movies. As you can see, I'm all about quantity since I have a bit of a commute.

I suggest you check out: http://www.garethemery.com/podcast.php
I just found this the other day and have been listening to the episodes... they are great. I recommend these podcasts, which are in mp3 format (so burnable on CD or DVD-A) if you are into trance or house.

In order from most to least often:
XM: Channels 10,11,16,29,43,44,45,50,54,75,76,84,150,151,221 (not sorted by preference)
DVD-A: Some big collections I've burned myself and some commercial releases
CD: Custom burns
iPod: Rarely as I only play it through the cassette adapter
