If the back seat has to be removed, it's more involved than I want to be.

It is not hard at all to remove the rear seat (and you can find all of the instructions you need here on the forum).

I'm interested.

Credibility

I'm interested, but, how did you find out about this company? What is their credibility, why did you choose them? I know a few company's that came out strong but didn't last to long. They do not have a history on their web site so maybe you can contact them to find out to reassure us that we wont just be blowing our money for something that will crap out in a few years or no tech support.

Here is their web site if anyone is interested http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/index.php

It's definitely a go. We are just working out the numbers at the moment as well as the funding. Please be patient, as this isn't exactly just using a pre-existing woofer and re-branding it. It's a custom made to spec woofer, for this specific application.

man aznbo is gonna dominate all forms of TL mods as a vendor LOL

but yes, aznbo, i'd actually be interested in something that doesnt necessarily give more thump as much as make it clearer. Imo the basslink which by now everyone should invest in imo would provide the thump, i want to be able to hear what note that thump is tho.

Sorry, I missed this post.

The company I'm working with has been around for over 5 years. They have a great 5 year warranty that I've personally dealt without any complaints. It's also a complete buying experience when I look for manufacturers, and I make sure to critique everything from the people themselves, their quality, performance, and warranty. Being that I've owned their products from 5 years ago, as well as their current products I'm more than certain that their products will meet my expectations.

I'm going to have a conference tomorrow with Ben and will update this thread once we finalize the details about the direction we want to sub to aim (SQ/SPL), size, mounting, wiring, and also the price.

If the back seat has to be removed, it's more involved than I want to be.
The backseats are actually quiet straight forward to remove. A basic socket set will work.
Imo the basslink which by now everyone should invest in imo would provide the thump, i want to be able to hear what note that thump is tho.
Well just compare this to your standard woofer addition. If you are looking for an improvement over the stock woofer, but don't want earth shaking woofer, you can get a woofer that will need an amp, box, and also wiring run from the battery as well as a LOC, but what we are trying to achieve is a setup that will work with your factory amp, wiring, and location while providing the car with the sound it should have came with from the factory.

Interested but quick question..is it like the TSX's? The TSX stock subs are great...my friend bumped up some music and his rear view was shaking like it had real subs.

Ha, I see you know Ben Milne as well. Ben and I have been friends for over 5 years and I can say Elemental Designs is a very reputable company.

Judging by the TS specs you posted earlier it looks like the speaker was from the EQHS line - those went on sale a couple of months ago for $25 as a blow-out sale. eD made a line of EQHS ranging from 8" and 12" subs specificly for OEM integration. Digging into the specs, the sub has a surface are of 138cm^2 - and a vas of 34.4. In order to achieve good results with an IB setup the sub must

1. Possess the ablity to move a large volume of air.
2. Have a decent amount of cone area.

This is why 10" and 12" subs will excel in IB setups over an 8" sub. Regardless of the diameter of the sub you do not need a lot of power in any IB setup. Because there is sealed box to cause the magnet/ coil to act as a spring you need to lower your input power.

Another possible option if you wanted a great sounding drop in 8" sub you can use the 9kv.2 - Link

Qts: .30
Qes: .38
Qms: 3.5
Fs: 23 Hz
Re: 7.4
Vas: 45 L
Mms: 71.4 g
Bl: 15.34 T*m
SPL: 83.43 dB
Sd: 231 cm^2
Xmax: 14.1 mm
Voice Coil: 38 mm

Magnet Width: 4.800"
Cutout Diameter: 7.25"
Mounting Depth: 4.375"
Weight: 10 lb
Total Height: 4.900"
Displacement: .05 ft^3
Outside Diameter: 8.375"

Good choice in audio company though

Actually, those were the specs of the stock woofer. Comparable to the EQHS, but we are aiming for an improvement so we couldn't use that woofer and a new woofer design will have to be made.

A larger woofer is def. considerable as one of the options, but our main focus at the moment is to utilize the factory amp and design it as a complete drop in. Not everyone wants to go crazy with a new amp and running power wires throughout the car and most just want that tiny bit that it should have came with.

Ben is a great person and his products speak for themselves. I just wish he wasn't this darn busy! I want my bass!

Well nothing is certain yet, as this is just an "interest" list. But we have been working towards a pretty good relationship with Elemental Design Audio and we are in the stages of designing an application to work with our budget, as well as factory integration without modifying anything else. I'll keep the thread updated as soon as I hear news, but it's a bit slow on their end so we all just have to sit tight for a little while.

Thanks!

This process takes allot of time. There is RD, tooling of the speaker parts, production and protyping to be done. QA is a top priority at eD so this is not something that will happen over night.
