Arrow Want highs and lows clean crisp (QUALITY)

Hey fellas ,its been a minute . I was originally suppose to go to the navy but things fell apart and planned to stay . Well enough of my me and onto the car !

I've been reading up on some of these threads and alot suggested you start from the front then towards the back . Now in days ,I want quality sound instead of that big thumping bass !

Onto the components : I was looking at the Hertz 165 Hi-Energy 6.5 and the Mille series . How much of a difference is the sound quality from these two ? I see a big differential in price so it must be night and day ?

Right now Im leaning more towards the Hi Energy but debating if I should go wt Mille when I have some more funds . Hi Energy is in my range at the moment . I also want a decent amp best punch for the money . (Buying refurbished amps ? Si or No) 4 CH or 2 CH ?

Thats it for now so looking to do nice front components and amp so far . I read that no need to switch stock coax n center speakers .(Not much of a difference ?)

I also want to know how much the factory unit pushes ? I couldnt find a thread about it . I see most are keeping the head unit and replacing componenets n subs .

The music I listen to mostly is Trance/House ,Octane radio ,some hip hop

Night and day difference between the 2. If you have the money, go for the mille's.

Yeah , just to be on the safe side . I found this one thread that said that the Hi Energy was louder than the Mille running from the same Arc amp but overall midbass ,tweeter was cleaner and smoother overall . It seems Hi Energy's is best overall at that price range http://www.caraudio.com/forums/speak...le-mlk165.html

Brand new set of hertz mille mlk 165 component speakers that retail for 999.99. Comes with genuine hertz serial numbers.
There not the knock offs from malaysia.
Rated 10 out 10 on caraudiomag.com .These are higher quality speakers than there current best speakers on hertz website now.
Will be shipped federal express 1-5 business days, insurance included. I usually ship the same day if possible.

Aside from not knowing the difference between their and there, looks pretty legit.

Eggy recommended some massive audio RK6's. They sound so good I'm contemplating going with RX6's for the back since my amp has enough juice to push all 4. I'm guessing the massive's are more for SPL than SQ though, but I will say they are amazing. Plenty of mid bass...clear and crisp highs. Give a look...
Also, if you decide you want to go that route, PM me and I'll give you the link the ebay seller that actually took my "best offer" of $180 for the set.

eggyhustles, seems like you're a car audio guru and know your stuff. Do you work at a shop? Just wondering where you get all your product knowledge.

Also, what are you currently running in your system? What type of sub set-up? Any pics? Just curious, I looked at your profile for Any build threads you started. All
I found was ramblings threads?!

Hertz HSK's are good, but I'd buy them from anywhere BUT Ebay. Just too risky, no matter what they say. If you wanna save money..rk6's.

I don't see how you could be disappointed with RK6's...check out the thread titled ID CTX65S reviewed...that is what lead me to the RK's. ANd let me tell you, they are clear...and crisp and amazing how loud they can go with no distortion, I cannot fathom anyone needing anything louder/better than that. And I'm a window down on highway but still want to hear my music, kinda guy

Good luck and let us know the outcome. Eggy, again, thanks for the recommendations.

Power Handling:
  • Peak: 1000 watts per set / 500 watts each side
  • RMS: 240 watts per set / 120 watts each side
UV protected glass fiber cone
Butyl rubber surround
1-1/8" (28mm) Silk dome tweeter
Directional tweeter With Multi mountings
Rugged construction
Custom pole piece for low distortion and sound quality
Fully isolated tinsel leads to eliminate crosstalk
4 ohms impedance
High temperature 100% pure copper voice coil
High flux Y35 strontium ferrite magnet

This might come as a shocker to most, but while my name says DM, bit surprise: I listen to 90% progressive trance and 10% death metal. So you and I probably listen to the same thing, save some differing genres of trance.

I upgraded my fronts, center channel, and tweets while still utilizing the factory amp, and let me tell ya, couldn't be happier for what I paid. The mids and highs are QUITE clear and I am very happy with everything. I also deadened the hell out of the doors, so I am getting some good reproduction for what's present.

The tweets alone are the factoy's biggest weakpoint, followed by the sub.

IMHO, if you deaden, upgrade the elements I listed above, and add a QUALITY sub set-up, you'll be gtg.

Used old-school PPIs amps still do an epic job, comps well

IT ALL DEPENDS ON YOUR BUDGET.

I haven't heard either side by side, but if you're on a budget, the massives are the way to go.

As far as the amp goes, fuck arc audio. I'd take the vibe audio litebox which is the same amp at half the price

I'd beg to differ, coming from an XXK-2500 and 4150. The only shortcomings of the Arcs are that people fail to slap suitable 2/3-ways that can even begin to push them.

I know PRECISELY what you're looking for, dude

Again, personally I would simply recommend getting a tweeter upgrade and a killer sub set-up. I'm talking like $800 sub/amp combo going on the cheap.

You'd be surprised just how well this would approach this goal without breaking the bank. Just my

My test track was this, and I knew I had what I wanted when my shit shook at 1:53. Fuck, I love Arty.

TY, sir Yes, Tiesto has indeed shit the bed, and he won't see me again. I saw him the LAST show at the Borgata and don't care for the crowd he attracts anymore, it was a f00king guidofest frat party.

You should enjoy this...I know I will.

Anyway, good choice on the speakers, are you just stopping there or what's next?

Lord Armin Van Buuren is my favorite... Im 80% Breakbeats and Trance. So my major want is for clear highs and mid-bass. The stock sub seems effective as I've ever wanted. I can't spend the kind of money that you guys are spending so I wont even share what I did for fear of being flamed... I'm kidding but I didn't come close to spending what the OP is willing to spend.

Well, the fronts should be a good place to start to say the least. I'm assuming you purchased an LOC already, if not, you're gonna need one.

I've heard good things about the Orion's, let us know how you make out with the new gear!

Trust me, after you get these in, it will NOT be long before you upgrade the subs.
I find sonicelectronix is a great place to shop on a budget. A lot of "package" deals too...

SS is great stuff. Just food for though - you might want to add some Overkill pro while you're in there. I have pics in my log of the deadener install if you need a reference.

If you check out DM's thread, don't get overwhelmed
He does excellent and amazing work.

About bridging...my zeus amp hits these with too much nominal wattage, they sounded a lot better unbridged. Which leaves me with 2 channels on the amp to run to rear. I had a bad noise coming off the oem amp so I ended up having to bypass it. I soldered the speaker wires into RCA's and ran those to the rear of the car to a line driver to bump signal back up. The processing on the OEM radio actually sounded pretty good to me so I haven't gone any further with adding processing.

Only thing, I think these speakers are so loud and clear the rear fill now is lacking and the cheap 10 year old infinity references can't really take much juice to even out with the fronts. I know a lot of purists say run a great front soundstage, but I like feeling the music from all around. I may pick up some matching coax RX6's in the future.

Those W6s will do anything you want them to do, it just depends on the enclosure. You would love a couple of them IB. I don't know what your budget is but one reason I love my Dyns is they will do whatever you ask of them. They can be laid back and gentle yet detailed or they can be ear piercing. They just do what you tell them to do and sound great doing it. I've never owned a set where you can EQ the sound to your liking so easily.

I went to the Electric Daisy Carnival in La back in '10 or maybe it was '09. Not sure if that's what you guys are in to but I'll never do that again. That's the first and only time I've watched a chick die from a drug overdose. Grossest thing I've seen.
