Voice recognition
Voice recognition
Does people have trouble with the voice recognition of the handsfreelink system ?
Of course I have a very strong french accent (the system comes in english even here in Quebec, but the navigation system comes billingual).
I cannot, most of the time pronounce a complete phone number, I have to pronounce the first 3 digit, then after the system ask me if I want to add number, I resume to the end of the whole number.

It's normal. You just need more practice to find your comfortable ways to speak.
This will get better and better soon. Good luck.
Acura is working with IBM to make better recognition system, wish the HFL will be better and easy to use soon.

I get extremely frustrated with the voice recognition as well. Sometimes I try turning off the climate control. On many occasions I'll give up and scream "fuck you" 6 inches from the microphone, to which I get the reply *008 or somethin'
That's funny. I just got V710 phone, and whenever I tell the HFL to 'call' or 'dial', it just beeps twice and the number is not dialed. Even if I say it louder or scream the command- nothing happens. But, if I yell 'Call goddammit!' it works. This is true everytime I have tried it. Guess she likes it rough!
I was frustrated the first few weeks I had the car. I tried all the obvious things, windows shut, moon roof shut, no other noises and still horrible luck.
Then I searched this site and got a suggestion that has worked almost perfectly since. I just talk in a normal, everyday voice. When I say number I just read 'em like I would to someone else. When I say someones name I just repeat in a normal voice. I found a normal to low volume works best.
The only other tip I have is I don't usually string commands together. So for instance I rarely say "dial WORK". I'll say "Dail" and then when she answers say "Work".
Good luck
