Verizon Vx8100 Does It Link Up With The Tl

I'm considering getting the new vx8100 for my tl, but I'm not sure if it will work. Does anybody have it linked with their tl, or does anybody know if it will work. Please I need this information soon.

Thanks

I just got mine last week from Verizon. It paired the first time I set it up and works
fine sofar pairing up automatically when I get in and turn the car on.

Unfortunately it only shows the signal strength (or is it just the phone icon?) in the
MID in status mode and the caller ID by tel number when receiving calls. I hope a
firmware upgrade comes out to show also the battery strength but not very
important to me.

The reception is loud and clear, sometimes people have trouble hearing me but
that has more to do with not talking towards the mike than trouble with bluetooth, a problem with any speaker phone system (sounds like you are
talking from inside a cave)

In the window above the navi it shows the telephone icon. What I didn't realize is that our cars do not use the phone book from the phones but you have to create a new one in the cars HFL database. I guess I have no choice but to live with that. I mainly like the fact that I don't need to find a place to put the phone and fumble for it when I get a call. I can just keep it in my pocket or briefcase. If I need to make a call from the phones contact list I can start it from the phone and tell the HFL to transfer it to the car.

I didn’t look at the Motorola 815, I had bought a Motorola 710 for my son and I didn’t like the layout. I guess that’s because I was using a LG VX6000 so the new VX8100 felt more familiar.

I haven’t played around much with it yet. I did buy a Mini SD card and it does play MP3’s but naturally it’s own speakers are pathetic. The manual shows as an accessory a stereo headset with mic. I am not sure if those are easy to find since most cellphone headsets are mono. Maybe at the Verizon store. Do a search on google for “hacks” on how to make MP3’s play, you will need to change the .mp3 to something else (it escapes me now here is one link http://howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=686076) and you can play movies from yr M-SD card as well. One thing I didn’t like is that it comes with very few ringtones and I can’t transfer the ones I downloaded onto my old phone to the new one (just the contact list). I believe there is a way to make short edited MP3’s into ringtones but I haven’t had a chance to investigate further.

With the Bluetooth on full time I notice the battery goes down much faster than my VX6000, if you use your phone a lot in the car I would suggest getting a car charger (but then we are back to having wires…) or an extra or larger battery. Otherwise I am happy with the phone sofar.
