Verizon Bluetooth phone selection

Does anyone know of a phone that would work on the Verizon network that has bluetooth but is NOT a camera phone? They don't allow photographic devices at work so I can't get any camera enabled phones. Other than the blackberry (which I already have one for work - 7280) what options do I have short of changing carriers?

Thanks.

Currently I think the only phone with BT on Verizon is V710 which is a camera phone. But maybe new phones in the pipeline.

Verizon also offers the Audiovox XV6600. This is a PDA phone which also has bluetooth.

Just because it has Bluetooth doesnt make it compatible with the TL.

Couldnt you just get a camera phone and have the Verizon dealer pop it open and put some kind of a cover over the camera lens? would that be good enough?

The XV6600 works with the TL HFL after you install a bluetooth patch found on pdaphonehome.com. Audiovox is releasing a new patch for the phone in about two weeks. This phone is the CDMA version of the iMate-PDA2k. As you can see it is listed as a working phone in this forum (After the Rom update was installed from iMate), that ROM update was used as the base for the XV6600 patch that has been tested by a couple of people on pdaphonehome.com and works with the HFL.

Thanks for the info...close on APG, I work for a local defense contractor though.

I'm a little confused by Casper's reply. Why wouldn't any phone equipped with Bluetooth technology be compatible with the TL? Unless you were referring to the Audiovoxx...

I'll have to check out the Audiovoxx. Not sure if I can manage with two PDA phones, but I have a few months until my initial contract expires and then I'll get a $100 towards the purchase of a new phone. Hopefully by then something else will be out.

Talking

The Audiovox looks pretty neat, but the keyboard is painfully small. I'm waiting to see the Samsung i730 that's due out in a month or so (if they meet the schedule announced).

The phone has to have the car kit profile in order to work with the TL. Phones that only have the BT headset profile won't work in the TL.

The Phone must have the "Hands Free Profile" or it will not work. The XV6600 is a Pocket PC phone in which part of the OS it has a host of BT profiles including the "Hands Free Profile".

Yes from perspective of using in the car with the HFL. Completely useless.

Yea, last time I went to check, V710 is the only Verizon phone that's Bluetooth-enabled, which, unfortunately, is a camera phone. However, they actually didn't even have it at Circuit City because the phone has been quarantined due to a problem with the lens.
