V710 owners...

For those of you who own the V710 - when entering a new contact into the phone book, is it possible to enter "pauses"... here is the best example I can give as to what im trying to do...

say you are using your v710 to call another country (and suppose you do this frequently) so you want to use a calling card...

you would enter 800-xxx-xxxx for the calling card company
pause pause (listening to message)
then you would enter your calling card number/pin number
pause pause
then you would enter the number you are dialing internationally

can you do something like this on the v710? how about the handsfreelink?

(no i am not trying to do this in the end... what i am trying to do is slightly more complicated but will benefit people on the board if it works)

I would assume that it is like all other Motorola Phones... there should be an option that you can enter in 'insert pause' or 'insert wait'.. I have a Motorola V3 RAZR, and it has those options.

Pauses in phone entries are usually commas. On most phones (not sure about Motorola), you would usually keep hitting the [1] key until you see , . Enter one comma for each pause.

Pauses

Unless something's changed with the Motorola V710 software...pauses don't work in the HFL system.
Take a look at this thread:

As I understand the pause issue from a conversatoin with the Acura HFL helpline.....

(1) This was an issue with the v710 because the pauses would cause the handset to disconnect from HFL. This was a frimware glitch. Acura offered a work around of using voice tags [see Owners Mannual] which apparently allow you to store several entries under one number [meaning the additional strings are not listed as new numbers in HFL and therefor don't take up additional slots in the HFL memory]. What you do is after dialing your first phone number you push the steering wheel button again and say the saved named for your second string [you access number for example] and do this again to enter you pass code [or whatever new info is required].

(2) Apparently, the firmware update that is coming out which corrects thsi issue. [Acura got an earlier version which they tested and it allowed then to post the v710 as compatable for about a week in early Nov.-- Acura then deleted the v710 from their approved list because moto/verizon never officially released what was apparently a beta version of the frimware to the public]. The new 40 firmware version which has only showed up in Texas will allow pauses to be programed in.

So...for now use the workaround, upgrade @ a Verizon store when the new firmware is released and you will be able to directly use pauses.

The new "SuperDave" firmware flash, which is essentially the new Verizon flash, only enabling some of the features that the new flash disables (like transferring ringtones from the Transflash card) allows pauses to work normally.

Since SuperDave didn't change anything in THAT regard, this highly indicates that the pauses will work with the next official Verizon firmware. However, if you don't want to wait, you can flash with the SuperDave firmware now, and you'll have pauses, plus the signal and battery indicators on the MID.
