V710 link problem!!

Just got my new v710 yesterday. I had no problems linking the phone to the car. Everything seems to work with one slight problem. It will only recognize incoming calls made from a landline. Any calls made from a cell phone to the 710 just light up the phone. neither it or the car gives an audible aleart. Both Verizon and Motorola are absolutly no help at all. Any suggestions are surely welcome. Thanks

You've come to the right place... My 710 has been flawless so far.

First thing to always try is to delete and re-pair the phone with the car...

Other than that, I'm stumped... Do you have the latest V710 firmware?

I think I got it!

just found a post that listed certain rintone that when selected failed to connect an incoming call to the HFL. The 3 phones that I used and failed to work all had one of the bad ring tones.
The ring tones that do NOT work ars as follows.....
Chimes high, chimes low, Ding, TaDa, Notify,Drum,Claps,Fanfare,Chord High, Chord Low.

Did it work? We just found the same problem with our phones. When I called my wife's V710 in her TL using our landline, it connected. When I called using my V710, it did not connect. I must have dialed at least 15 times with the cell phonel. I was finally able to get a connection when she was only about a mile away.

I don't see how the ringtone can prevent a cell phone call from connecting, but not a landline call.

Well the V710 does have the ability to have a specific ring tone associated with a phone number. Is it possible you've done that and used one of the offending tones?

That was it!

Yep....definitly was a problem with select ringtones.....everything working fine now. Verizon and Motorola were stumped. Each one blamed the other. They bounced me back and forth for over a 1/2 hour, and still had no clue. claimed they never heard of such a thing. I am going to call them both back and let them know in the hopes that they dont take someine else for a useless joyride. This forum is great. found my answer here in less than 5 min. next time I am coming here first.

Gaslk, what ringtone worked for you? We've tried both the standard and moonlit haze and get the same result -- the incoming call will show up on the HFL if from our landline, but not if from my V710 (calling my wife's V710 in the car). I still don't see how selecting the "wrong" ringtone could allow it to continue to work for a landline call, but not for a mobile call.

donstim...........In you wifes phonebook. edit your number(your 710"s number in her phone book) and make sure ringer ID is set to none. If its set to one of the above offending ringtones it wont transfer the ring to the HFL.

gaslk....Wow, I didn't even consider checking that because I didn't think she even knew how to set a personal ringtone. But she did, and sure enough, it was to one of the ringtones that don't work.

It makes perfect sense now -- the landline didn't have a special ringtone set for it.

I don't know how to say thank you enough. (But I'll try.) Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Does anyone know if the V710 Firmware upgrade (Verizon or Superdave) fixes the bad ringtone problem?

Thanks guys. I had been using one of the non functional ring tones and even went so far as having Verizon replace my phone. This was driving me crazy. Thanks again

Any word on the V710 firmware upgrade? Love the Bluetooth, but lack of data display is disappointing.

Bueller? ... Bueller?
