V710 call waiting # and TL display

Are you guys all finding no info when a call waiting call comes in? I seem to get no # showing up in the display and have to refer to the V710 itself as to who's calling.

Can anyone tell me if the Verizon V710 will answer calls with the clam shut? My V600 won't and I don't want to move to Verizon unless the phone will answer a call with the clam shut.

Thank!

The HFL in the Acura TL will answer calls from the Verizon V710 with the clam shut no problem. Here's how it goes. I get into the car with the phone closed in my pocket. Never take the phone out even. A call comes in, the stereo mutes, then a ringing tone comes through the car stereo speakers, caller ID # appears on the MID in the dash. I hit the phone button on the steering wheel and the call connects. The car stereo speakers handle the audio and the car's microphone picks up your speech. When you're ready to end the call, press the call drop button on the steering wheel and the call ends. Phone never leaves the pocket.

Cool. I just got my "new" Cingular V600 (My recall replacement unit) and it has the same issue - it won't answer a call unless it is open. Acura says Moto has released a fix to Cingular and ATT, but the carriers haven't heard of it. Spent about an hour on the phone with Cingular after Acura told me about the reported fix, they know nothing about it. Go figure. If I was sure Moto was going to fix the V710 display issues in a timely fashion, I would go back to Verizon and get a V710. As it stands now, I think I will wait until someone on this forum actually says they have the upgrade and it works. Too bad, because the V600 is a good phone otherwise.

One point that may be obvious but deserves emphasis--the manual says you must hit the button on the steering wheel to hang up even if the other party does so; otherwise, the stereo doesn't come back on. (Figured it was worth noting because I know that at least with my prior handsfree device I didn't have to hang up if the other party was going to do so.)

w/ the v710 you don't have to hang up, it does it on its own. what's even cooler is that i recently had to replace mine and i guess i got lucky and got one w/ new software, now i can not only answer when the phone is shut but also hit the talk button on the v710 and use the phone as opposed to the hfl, just in case the call is of privarte matters : )

Ken - Your firmware on your V710 may be old. Have you ever upgraded your firmware? Other indications of old V710 firmware are no signal strength bars or no battery level indications on the MID. If you need to upgrade your firmware, you can go to a Verizon brick-n'-mortar store (not a kiosk), and they'll upgrade your firmware for free.

I finally took my phone in for the upgrade yesterday, but so far no battery or signal strength on the display. Is it possible that they didn't give me the upgrade? Is there a way to tell by looking at the phone? [I didn't have to re-pair the phone after the "upgrade" -- not sure if I would have had to otherwise.]

Any thoughts or suggestions?

go to Phone Info -> Other Information -> S/W Version and make sure your software version is 01_40.XX or greater
