Use stock screen for backup cam only?
heres the details...
my navi in my car has gone out and i refuse to repair the dvd rom in the trunk...instead I bought a JVC KW-ADV64BT touchscreen and a Boyo backup camera. I gain navigation through the JVC by plugging my iphone into it and I will therefore be able to see navi and have a backup camera display on the JVC. Instead of using my JVC for the backup cam...Id like to dedicate my original navigation screen for the backup cam and/or maybe even an alternate for navigation from the jvc as well... I mainly want it for the backup cam but if there is a way to do both that would be ideal...all while still maintaining steering wheel controls.

I'm not sure what the navi does when the drive goes bad. What is on your screen while you drive? Does the audio screen come up? If it does, I think you would install the back up cam the same way you would on any 2005 TL (tvnav2go unit?). But, that might not work if the navi locks all signal to the screen.
Where are you installing the JVC? That's a full size HU right? Which means you'd be removing your stock HU? Which means your JVC needs to accept a steering wheel control adapter if you want those to continue to work.

yea, i am installing the jvc under the screen(removing stock radio and cd player...good riddance TAPE player..da fuq?)
I will also be discontinuing my use of my factory tweets altogether as I bought some new Focals to go in my car as I am removing these awesome bose...
I'm gonna leave the factory tweets in place which wont matter since i bought a dask cover to hide my cracks...the new tweets will be mounted in the door panels in that little spot to the right of the cubby hole...apparently its used to hold something small...so anyway, were going to post pics of it when its done. =]

You can use a video input adapter for the stock nav screen w/o the nav being there. I used a PAC VCI-HON2 on mine for 2 years w/ no problem (actually for sale now). Then you can just feed your b/u cam into the interface and leave the display switched to the interface all the time.
