Updating The Navigation System

Im really really really new here...and im only 17...but for my first car i got the 5-Speed Automatic Acura TL fully souped with every option available Navi and all with Body Kit..Spoiler...etc.....but i was driving to school one day and playing with the yellow pages aspect on the nav and it showed a restaurant listing that i knew about but i knew had gone out of buisness a few months ago, i don't know what you can do i read a thread about updating the navigation system? but i was just wonder how much something like this would cost and how you update the navigation system etc...im just very curious about this because i plan to have this car through college and a few years after and i don't want a perrfectly amazing top ranked navigation system to go to waste

The only way I know is to purchase a new navigation disc every few years. They're $185 a pop.

"Yallow Pages" inside our Navi is just a feature to enhance your chance of finding a direction or a tool to entertain the driver/passengers. It's never real-time and will never be accurate.

Take it easy.

Why would the navi system go to waste? Just because a few restaurants happen to go belly up doesn't mean the navi system is useless. I find it very accurate for most applications, but doesn't always use the best route(shortest) to a destination, but it will get you there. No database can ever have everything 100% accurate...at least for a reasonable price anyway. Nothing is perfect. BTW...as a first car...consider yourself lucky to have a TL.

i know i know, im not saying that it would go to waste, its just i really like taking advantage of the "find nearest..." feature and i think that ill be having this car for quite awhile and i was just wonder how to update it and such....and over the years new streets are added and a few of my friends arn't located on the new navi so i have to program it to go to a different street closer to theirs because i am directionally retarded

also....is it worth updating the nav each time?

JetJock...yea...TL is beautiful first car...its a heavy car though so it slows you down a bit
