Updated Navigation Disk?

For all you navigation users -->

Just wondering if anyone here has gotten the "new" navigation disk? I noticed it sort of being advertised on my owners link webpage. Is it worth getting for one and if you know, what is its price?

I figure it to be useless since I already have navigation capability but everyone here typically knows more than I do.

If I remember correctly, the price of the upgrade disc is somewhere around $180.

I heard the yearly updates come out in October/November (similar to Lexus), as dictated by Alpine USA (the navi and disc manufacturer).

I have the July 2003 version (first one for the 2004 TL and Accord). I'll either get the 2004 or 2005 disc for the corrected/enhanced yellow pages functionality.

It sorta reminds me of buying Madden football every year for my PS2...

It appears that the Navi database information will be updated once a year (with the new model releases), so that there will be consistancy in problem reports for the model year.

If Acura wanted to pay for it, they could get more frequent database updates from Navteq, but there isn't any real profit for Acura in that. Once a year is sufficient for most folks.

I'll probably buy the next update that has the major highways in my area completed, and then hang for a while with that one.
