i just got a tl and overall im extremley happy with it. one of the few things that could use improvement however is the sound system. the speakers scream and i am satisfied with that but once i start gettin up in the volume the bass just isnt there eneough. im looking for some insight as to what subs/amps perform the best in the tl

Im curious if people complaining about stock sound system are suffering from a dying amp.

This may not be your case at all, but my amp slowly died, so it was hard to notice the progression. The passenger side channel died first. My friend thought my speakers were blown, but they became just barely audible. then the rears slowly went. All the sound was coming from the driver side speakers. then the infamous whine plagued me for quite some time before I caved and bought a new amp. before I would listen to music with the volume between 30-38. Once i got the new stock amp, I dont go past 15. I honestly couldn't believe how much better (and louder) the sound had gotten. I had contemplated going aftermarket, but I got a great deal on a new(-ish) amp from an 08 type-s and it took maybe 10 minutes to install.

There is no doubt that a decent aftermarket system will outperform the stock TL system, but I wonder if part of it is just failing amps

 

No failing amp here! Just wanted to upgrade! My single 15 infinite baffle bumps. Minimal space lost and minimal amp power needed. But any decent sub setup will overpower the rest of the OEM system.
