Try This

Take a Bluetooth phone that is paired with your TL's HFL and stand next to your car. Do not open or even unlock the door; the car should be parked and the ignition turned off.

Place a call using your phone, preferably to your landline phone or at least to someone who is expecting a strange phone call. Do you hear ringing and then the other party answering? Or do you hear nothing but dead silence?

If the display on your phone has an indicator which is displayed when a Bluetooth headset or hands-free device is in use, look for it now. On my SE T-637, a little headset icon appears, indicating the phone is linked to the HFL in my TL - even then the ignition is turned off and the car is not in use!

Now end the call and walk away from your car. As you walk out of range, the phone may say something like "Bluetooth connection lost." If you place a call now, it will go through normally and be audible in the phone's earpiece.

Please let me know if your car does this.

I have the SE k700i and I get intermittent problems like this also when my car is off and parked in the garage.

The only thing that I can guess is that the HFL is still somehow powered up when the car is off. It is not a constant problem but only happens when I'm in range of the car. Many have had mysterious phone battery life issues and car battery life issues which may be explained if BT stays on.

So far it hasn't bothered me alot but I may need to turn off my phone's BT every time I get out of my car if this leads to problems.

Anyone know if Acura has a fix for this?

Very interseting. I, with T610, have no problem to call while be close to my TL. I could make a call and talk to target and get-in the car, then start the engine and keep talking or "transfer" to HFL.

But I know sometimes my T610 would show "Bluetooth Connection Lost" message from nowhere. I was standing hundred yard away from my shut-off car.

Will try it again tomorrow.

According to the manual, if you are on a call, you can turn the car off and continue to talk (using HFL) for 30 minutes. This partially explains what you're seeing.

However, I have made a call directly on my Moto V710 while inside the car and it worked fine. Well, I don't know how fine. I got the persons voice mail and hung up so I didn't do any talking. But I had no problem hearing the other end of the line and this was done inside the car while it was moving and the BT was linked.

Indeed, this might explain why the HFL is still powered up and able to link up with my phone. The question is, why would the HFL and my phone be trying to link at all? I'm not initiating a call with the HFL - I'm initiating it directly from the phone itself.

i get the same problem w/ the SE t610

it's really annoying when i need to call a number not stored in my HFL phonebook, but my the one in my phone...the call never works when i just dial from my phone.

the trick i use is i press talk and then cancel from the steering wheel while i call and then i am able to use my phone...it is really annoying

I have had no such problems with a Siemens S56 or a Nokia 6820.
