Troubleshooting Foglights/HID
Hey all, the previous owner of my 04 TL installed some foglights (see picture) and I'm trying to get them working again. I pulled the HID setup out earlier today hoping to figure out what the heck is going on and I attached a few pictures below. There is a whole mess of wiring under the hood with relays and wires running everywhere and to be honest, I'm not terribly well versed on electronics. Just curious if anyone else has any input or answers to a few questions that I have.
- Is there any way to identify what brand/specifications/etc that this HID setup is? It looks like its been in there for a while and any kind of markings have worn off.
- Is it worth trying to figure out if something is broken or am I better off finding a new HID setup to put in there?
- Not the best picture of the foglights, but figured it might help.
This is the relay mess under the hood. The black bundle of cables goes down to the foglights but are both relayss necessary? both positive cables and both negatives come out of the one on the right so what is the one on the left for? That black cable with the yellow cap was originally attached directly to the battery terminal for power so yeah...that had to come out...
This is the HID assembly, minus the wiring that is run between both foglights, I didnt take all of that out, just unplugged it.
No idea how to identify the bulb, is it just a generic bulb based on the HID unit specs?
This is the HID unit, no markings anywhere, no way to identify it really.
These are the only markings, im assuming just a standard voltage and power rating for the unit.
This is the setup in the car, those blue wires are the ground wires for both bulbs. The horizontal black bundle of wire goes left to the other bulb and right up into the engine bay to the relays.
So, I havent exactly provided a wealth of information but I'm just hoping to get them up and working or else find a new set and get them installed and wired correctly, if anybody has any input or comments, i'd love to hear em because im currently at a standstill until I can either identify the lights or figure out what is not working correctly. Thanks!
