Treo 700wx with TL HFL

Has anyone had success in using the Sprint Treo 700wx with a TL? Any issues with pairing or call connections?

I've got the Sprint Palm Treo 700P paired to my 2004 TL.
Works like a charm.
You might want to consider the 700P. It has a much higher screen resolution than the windoze based 700.

I haven't seen anyone post about the wx to date. I don't know I would go off what's on handsfreelink.com. They show the 700w on the Sprint page, but they've had that on there since the VZW 700w came out. Since VZW had a 6 month exclusive on the 700w, I don't know how Acura tested a Sprint 700w 7 months before Sprint sold it, and since the Sprint version is the WX. If I were a betting man, I'd say it would have the same BT compatibility as the VZW 700w.

Go to a Sprint store and ask them if you could test one in your car. I'm sure they wouldn't care.

I with you on the Palm, but I also run Linux at home and not Windows. Some people will just prefer the W over the P.

I sent a message to Acura HFL asking about support. Their response is below. I also noticed today that the 700wx is listed in the currently testing list. I can't imagine that support would be that much differnt than the Verizon 700w, but I'd sure like to see at least the signal strength so its at least the same as the Treo 650.

Thank you for visiting HandsFreeLink.com.

Indeed, this phone is still in pending status meaning we are still currently testing this phone. Our testing is quite rigorous and we cannot state whether it is compatible until we have completed our testing.

We do not have an anticipated completion date for testing. The phone has been through our initial phase and now we are working on some additional tests to ensure it meets our standards before we can state whether or not it's approved.

We can only provide support for the compatible phones listed on handsfreelink.com. We don't have any additional information regarding this phone or have any troubleshooting tips.

Please feel free to email us with additional questions.

Sincerely,

HandsFreeLink Customer Service

I don't see why the wx wouldn't work since it's basically the w with more program memory.

Acura now has the Sprint 700wx as not compatible. I can get mine to work sometimes. Then is will unpair on its own.
Anyone get the 700wx to stay paired?

The 700wx only seems to works if I "soft reset it" Then it'll stay paired for a few days only. After a few days the phone icon will show on the HFL display but when a call comes in I can't answer it.

I had the 700W and it was a nightmare as well. Pity, coming from a 650 (which worked great) I would have hoped the 700WX would have worked just as well.

Question Sprint 700wx

I have an '04 TL and the 700wx and I don't how it pairs with the HL, it's like everyone is saying here connections keeps dropping and sometimes I loose my call. Maybe if they come up with a firmware upgrade for the 700wx we can have better luck.

I have a 700wx and I am not getting incoming call numbers displayed.. no signal strength either. All worked fine with my 650. Anyone with a 700wx getting caller ID? Anyone getting the same results?

here is my experience with the 700wx (The 700p worked GREAT and was solid.. But I wanted a Windows based phone that can multitask)...

1 - It pairs.

2 - About 70% of the time, it connects fine. Icons show right on phone and HFL.

3 - About 25% of the time it doesnt pair at all. I THINK this has to do with when mail is coming in and I start the car. I can pair by saying to the car NEXT PHONE.. then is says Searching for nexct phone... and says no phones have been found, but while its saying that, it conects up with icons etc. I can ALSO pair by going to the phones bluetooth serttings and selecting "Set as Hands Free" on the handsfreelink (by holindg button on that device in bluetooth list).

4 - About 5% of the time, the phone icon turns white but the HFL does not have an icon. In THAT case, I have to turn bluetooth off and then back oin and do one of the solutions in step 3.

5 - Sometimes it rings fine with caller ID... and I can answetr fromt he car.

6 - Other times it rings, stops and rings again.. and gives issues and sometimes hangs up on people

7 - It never shows signal stregnth or battery power on the display.

So it is NOT a good phone for the TL... We will have to see if there is every a firmware update for it.... Probably a new phone with Mobile 6 will be out sooner... Its amazing such an advanced phone can not have basic bluetooth where regular phones have no problems.

I also have 700wx from Sprint and was having Bluetooth drop-out problem. Occasionally, in the car with the phone paired to my '05 TL, my phone would ring (I get the announcement from my car), but I could not answer. When I try to answer, the call is dropped. The only solution I had was to use the option to not turn off the device after some minutes. But this seemed to drain my battery a lot faster. Then, I found this posting on treocentral.com where this person named hannip was able to copy the bluetooth software from Verizon 700wx over to Sprint version to add A2DP feature. But this hack also seems to fix the bluetooth drop-out problems as many others have reported. After installing this hack, I haven't had any bluetooth dropouts yet. If you are interested, go to treocentral.com and search for " A2DP Now Working on Sprint 700wx!!!"

I have the 700wx from Alltel and it works just fine. The only complaint that I have is that it does not show the signal bars. But it works fine.

Try This:

http://www.jetwaremobile.com

Works with my Treo 700wx to show battery and signal strength. They have a 30 free trial.

mc_from_sj,

I tried to look for that post on TreoCentral and could not locate it. Do you possibly still have the directions on how to do this. You would be a great help.
Thanks in advance

I think the 1st post explains it. So far, I haven't had any bluetooth disconnection problems at all in my car.

Good luck.

I have been having some HFL issues with my 700wx lately. I constantly hear a buzzing in the background of every call.

handsfreelink.com says that the Alltel version of the 700wx is NOT compatable in the TL.

my Sprint 700 wx stays paired at all times and I am always able to pick up the calls, transfer from HFL to phone and back with no problems. Does not display Caller ID, status bar and battery. I also hate the fact that I can not do phone book import. In addition, Ihave to use my girls razor to connect the acura server and send information about my car.
I have a Carbon Gray Pearl 2007 tl.

Love the phone. Love the car. Not a single problem. There are truly VERY few phones that are incompatible with the ACURA HFL.

I got the same problem as jguerra, phone book can't import, but the hfl works flawless, for the buzzing sound, hit 0 (happens with some headsets, or in this case the hfl), i'm upgrading my phone to the 1.15 software for the wx, gonna see if that makes any major changes, think the phone needs to have bluetooth dial up networking to allow us to connect to the server, i'll play around with it and see what happens...

according to this post over at treo central http://discussion.treocentral.com/sh...ial+networking

the software update supports bluetooth dial up networking, i'm about 50% complete with the update so i'll post the results once it's complete...
