Touch Screen Harness Sucessfuly Made!

hey guys,
today i finished up the protyping and some extensive R and D and the harness is working as it should. Production will Start soon at a bit of a low rate due to my courses interfering sometimes. I have tested it with an old laptop and it preformed well, but with the short-circuit computer, it just gave me the blue Screen Of death as soon as i finshed assembling it and can't figure out why. I PM'ed me for some urgent bios help and if it doesn't work, the local computer place is my best option. As I said, it is made and works flawlessly. I will need to talk with mods/admins about gaining offical sponsership/seller on acurazine before I can announce any pricing of the sort. Pics of my TL literally on the floor to come. ( I even rotated the tires when XP was formatting the new HD, which failed)

Great work

Will it still require cutting into the back of the navi enclosure

Very interested...if using the domstv thingy to get video up to the navi, i'm assuming i would need one of those PIEX3 thingys to get sound out of it as well? How much would a carputer cost as well? i have a feeling that this going to end up costing like 1g by the time everythings done. Currently my setup is stock. so I'm assuming i would need,
1.Usb PNP harness csmeance is making
2. DomsTVandNAvtogo
3.PIEX3 audio in
4.Carputer
5.Multitude of cables to hook all together
6. Probably some fancy switches
7.Case of beer
So whats the grand total?

THis is what would be needed

1. USB Harness
2. DOm's Video Converter
3. Audio converter (PIE/USA SPEC)
4. Carputer
5. 1 Video RCA cable
6. Some other misc. stuff no more than $150

WIth the usb Harness, I will provide alot of wire along with a rocker switch and some wire taps to tap for power.

total for me so far:
Carputer 450 (HD, CD Drive, Ram, PC)
Doms 225
USA SPEC 150
Cables 100
USB Harness 100-200 dollars (this will not relfect price as i my brother lost a few parts, some stuff got fried by accident and my dad helped break a bunch of screws and crack a panel due to not waiting for me

Just remember I messed up some stuff so the cost is a bit higher. For you goys, i can reduce this a bit, i have some "cupins" for short-circuit.com and some other sources, so it will be cheaper to you.

but total FOR ME is $1025

by doing this, what you get is a factory look carputer which is essentially a "big touchscreen Ipod that can play dvds, music, games, surf the web, and do some other neat things.

Just as a tip to you guys to save money, you can use a dell Win XP reinstall disk to format your new HD, but it has to be formated using the carputer. Once I become a vendor and everything, i might be able to install all of this stuff to make it easier for you guys and might be able to offer some install services for people at my home.

nope, i have found a way to get around without cutting in. As well, most of this the install is relatively simple and can be done in a day.

Great work!!!

Soooo, when ...

no pressure, but soon?!?

I'll need to schedule the install when my wife is away... something about tearing apart the dash [again ] gets her nervous - go figure

Are you going to make a special software Interface for the Carputer where we can just select options of what we want to do? Like Internet, Music, DVD, that sort of thing.

Good Eye , yeah let me know when the product is finished. Off topic do you know anyone in the local area that sells/installs Tein Coilover kits? From my search the only place locally that has is Ride but I wanted to price it out before I commit, they seemed a little high.

there is a free open end software you can get called road runner. The videos that met152 has are using road runner with some skins. It is essentially built for this purpose and works great.

i can find out for you, how much did ride quote you? Also, it might be much cheaper to do it yourslef, there are a bunch of threads of people who did it, and if you need a driveway, i might be able to lend you mine for a day. Also i know i have good eyes.... i was sitting in the passenger deat today, i let my mom drive the MDX today. Also saw that you have sparkel silver a-spec rims with a almost full a-spec kit, also with 07 tls tails, correct?

Yeah I have the A-Spec kit, TL-S markers and tails and i just got the A-Spec wheels mounted last week (Hyper-black finish). The cheapest I found the coilovers was 675/875 (Basic/SS) shipped from AutoWheelHaus in Otown with no installation and Ride was 1050 for the Basic installed which seemed outrageous.

I was thinking of the going the DIY route, but due to lack of time and space

courtsey charges 650 including alignment for the a-spec install. Try them. Also if you do go there, talk to RJ Lores in service, he can hook you up.

today I reformatted th HD for the carputer and it worked flawlessly. Now on the weekend, i will do all hidden wiring, audio and video connections and finish this all up. Just on a side note, I will be selling this soon. I want to do some more R and D with my bro, who is rought on electronics, so I know I have made and am going to sell a product that can stand up to some pretty harsh stuff. I will pay my vendorship dues in the begining of May and then start selling

UPDATE: I did not get a chance to finish and am recovering right now. On sunday something happened and i blacked out while working in the TL, my neighbor noticed my arm hanging out of the car and revived me. I do not know what happened, jsut feeling a buzzing feeling in my arms and legs. I did get the wiring and the carputer in there along with USB, Audio and CD drives. The only thing left is the relay and stuff for the touchscreen, which was the main point of this. I will try to see if i can get a day off this week and finish it up. Also to florida members, if i can get it done, you can see it at the mega meet.

Hopefully you figure out what happen dude. Thats pretty scary. Is it possible you got electrocuted? Or maybe just too tired and fell asleep?

At any rate, good luck with getting your install complete. Health/well being should be a top priority.

I will work on it as soon as i can get other things done. BBasically everything is wiered up in the car execpt for the touch screen interface which I have to rebuild. Thank you very much for being patient

Is there any update? I've been holding off on getting this all set up for 2 months now because I want this module. Is it safe to say that I should give up waiting for attempt to do it myself?

Giver,

I started working on my module last night. If you've got basic soldering skills, you should be able to handle it yourself.

I tested it on my PC last night and it works great. I tried it in the car this morning and got no response, so I probably have a bad/loose connection somewhere. But it shouldn't take long to narrow down.

Thank you for your concern. I am feeling much better and got good results on my PTF (medical stuff). I could not make any progress as the heat outside is very intese here and with my health issues, i cannot do to much. I am though trying to find a way to make it look neater and compact as right now it is a jumble of clips, soldering joints, wires and chips. I am not sure that it can be done in a TSX. If someone wants to meet up with me with a spare navi screen, i can dissect it in a few minutes and tell you or you can post pictures of it here.
