TL Radio Unit is a joke!!
I'm not trying to blast the TL but, I hate the radio.
I love the voice activated stereo!! That rocks!
Why is there no MP3 I mean what year is this??
5.1 surround sound, ya that could be cool, but what artists actually record in that format?? and I don't have time to record each channal independantly and then make a cd out of it!!
And as far as the DVD-A, ya that might be cool if that format was popular!!! It is already on its way out because it is a pointless format.
The TSX has an aux input! Why not the TL!
No Radio Text (RDS) Not that important but still.....WTF?
I have had better sounding stock stereo in my 91 eclipse! and that is no lie
I love my TL and just think Acura could have done better on the stereo.

The DVD-A Script Guy
I'll bite.
Sure DVD-A isn't catching on like Acura had hoped so it is curious that they haven't added mp3 disk ability. They went with the (arguably) poor iPod integration instead. Ipods are great but the ipod integration, by the accounts of others, isn't so good. I credit Acura with having the balls to try something like DVDA that offers great sound quality (the best on paper) while others add only mp3. No mp3 can compare with a CD, let alone a good DVD-A. Both would have been ideal
The upside of DVD-A is that there are many, not lots, of good DVD-A recordings and it is really easy to make your own DVDAs of CDs without having " to record each channel independently" That means lots of full CD quality songs in the car. For those that have the patience to make DVDAs from DVD-V concerts the payoff is really big.
I agree about the Aux input. It would be nice if we didn't have to wire up our own. I still might wire one up and use an iPod with loss-less compression since I really can't stand mp3s.
So I guess I agree that Acura could have done a better job but I don't think the system is bad and certianly not a "joke". I like the sound for a stock system.
And...don't even try and take my DVD-As away !

RDS,CD-TEXT - it sucks but it's not a deal breaker.
Especially when 5 out of 6 discs are DVD-A 5.1Channel in my car and I barely listen to radio anymore because I don't like 2 channel sources anymore.
You actually have somewhat good selections of 5.1 DVD-A's. Sony BMG is making bunch of Dual Discs which I could easily convert to Playble DVD-A in TL.
